Perhaps she was tempted by aa dating site because there seemed no prospect of any more than friendship with you? Dates booked suggest she likes you, and sometimes that is a better basis for a relationship than romance or passion, Sometimes being buttoned up is a good thing and sometimes not, only you can work the signals out.

I'm not sure, but it seems that our friendship continues, and I was out last night for a visit to the Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art. Her friends think she's in a relationship with me, but she's corrected them on that. I said 'I should be so lucky' but with no response.

Kew tomorrow, snow permitting, then a musical Tuesday, all pre-planned.

The big concern is that when it gets even more serious I'll become the unwanted guest. .

Guess I cross that bridge when I get to it. One day at a time...

Oh, stop putting yourself down MMF. It's personality, and a kind heart that really matters to any woman with sense.

The mental picture of you trying to put yourself on the shelf made me laugh. It is a bit like me trying to reach my shelves and high cupboards. I used to have no trouble so I must have shrunk.

Interestingly, Webbie, she said something very similar. When she changed her profile from single to in a relationship (after less than 4 weeks, and they're not rushing it) and her friends put 2 and 2 together, but she told them they'd made 5, and it wasn't me. So I said 'Yes. Yopu told them I was a geriatric cripple) and she said it was Personality that counted. And her friends thought I was great fun and lovely...

So thanks for that, Webbie. It is good to be understood. And I know she appreciates the friendship, as she confides in me a great deal, and listens to my suggestions.

Took her to 'We Will Rock You', as thought I could get free ticket, but failed, so bought 2 tickets at £37.50 each. Dressed up in my best gear, including new shoes, only to be asked why I wasn't wearing non-slippy types.

I had arranged for programmes to be signed backstage, and went early to ensure they were there. Then into Starbucks and bought drinks for both of us. And also the Theatre before the show started.

Come the interval we changed seats, as we were right at the front, so restricted viewing.

Afterwards I took her backstage to pick up the programmes, that were unsigned.

As it was freezing, and I didn't want her getting cold (She had a sore throat and a cough) we gave up, and she kindly walked me to the stop so I could get the home, before walking to the station herself.

Care in the community isn't dead! <cynic-smiley)

She talked about the boyfriend, and sent texts, but I felt rather 'alone'.

I will not do that again! I don't expect any special thanks, but it would be nice to ignore the phone when someone has made a special effort, and not asked for anything in return. And it was her choice of show!

Not much I can do to change that, except allow time to pass, and reduce the number of outings, except He'll fill them.
