h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I know I am unable to move as well as the able bodied, but that is ridiculous!!!

However!

The deed has been completed.

Thanks to a fantastic group of Interweb friends who I met hunting elephants in London during the summer, and a HooTooan (You know who you are h5ringer, but I promise not to identify you!)

I'd decided the move would stop at 17.00, irrespective of where we had reached and, at 17.05, I locked the door, and all that remained was a fridge-freezer, an armchair and a vacuum cleaner!

Then the party started, albeit quiet (all the power leads and music components were spread throughout the property!)

A kindly neighbour provided liquid sustenance because I had no concept of time) and Mum prepared lunch (albeit at 15.00 and mixing up the ingredients)

But I am now in. No phone line, and theKitchen and bathroom are about to be trashed, and there is no carpet, but it is, hopefully, the penultimate move for Mum and I. The next being out of our control!!! And our input!!!

Hope the phone and internet are soon working and then you can really* settle in Well done... I loath moving... why I've only done it such a limited number of times in my life have an house warming from me too

Congratulations MMF, I too hope you get your phone and internet connection soon. It is horrible being cut off from the world when you have been used to logging on any time.

I hope the worst is over with regard to the actual move, and that the alterations etc. are done quickly.

(I'm so parranoid about the 'not being with internet connection' thing, that at any point in time I've useually got as I have at the moment, at least three differnt ways to conenct to the internet; mobile USB dongle, mobile phone internet access, and of course the cable connection... so If I move at least I can fall back on the other two for the minutes, hours or days I might be without a proper cable connection )

It must be a great relief for you, MMF. Moving, even a short distance, is such a hassle.

Last time I moved house it was an even shorter distance - it took me some ten days before everything was at the new place.

It's not the distance - it's the packing and unpacking
