h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

So one application was still-born. It had to be at our Central offices which probably means it is a 'shoe-in' for a chosen acolyte. Happens all the time.

Some of my colleagues have already migrated (i.e. moved to new postions) and other colleagues who's positions have been made redundant, have left.

As to the flat, I do at least have it secured. Now just need a date. Unfortunately that relies on the premises being inspected, made good and signed off. I would it to be 16/10/10, but it is tight. I've suggested doing the minimum then work around my boxes. I have some very dear friends prepared to give up that Saturday to help, as they know I would have difficulty doing it myself. Boxes, yes. Furniture and white goods? Not a hope!!!

And Mum had her purse nicked by a couple of school kids allegedly doing a sponsored Pyjama race. They've been but that doesn't help making Mum more gregarious!

On the plus side, I had a great weekend in Hull, as highlights.

Also, I had what appears to be, a good interview for the Audio and TV technical support position. The team are really keen for me to join, but it is down to the Manager.

My colleagues also won the Pub quiz last Monday, so another plus.

Last night I had a very pleasant evening with a friend at an Art Exhibition, and had a very pleasant meal afterwards, of Venison, Dauphinois potatoes and unwanted blackberries.

So where to from here?

The move is not one I wanted to make, but Mum's health is not getting better, and I do have concerns about her eating properly (just thinking of my on Bel's American thread! ) and mine is not going to improve. I'd hoped the last would be the penultimate, but it is not to be. The ultimate being the and long black car job. Oh well.

And what is the best way to shift 24-ish metres of books, a thousand LP's, 200 CD's and the same in videos? And don't say a skip! My Sister is getting nothing if I write a will, for suggesting 'Don't move it, skip it!'

Charity can have the lot!!! Or house clearance. Not one thing! Fiddles to schools, books to libraries, games to retirement homes, optics to nature reserves, clothes to the homeless, the lot!

What to do with my mom is an issue I'm facing, too. I have enough room for her to live with me, but she doesn't want to leave her own house. She's lived there for 56 years. She says she couldn't stand to live anyplace else. And I can't live with her because it's in a different town, and I'm required to live here to keep my job. It's never easy, is it?
