Once again it's on the prowl,
It doesn't bark, it doesn't howl.
It lurks about, just out of sight
It's presence felt most oft at night.
It rarely drowses, always there,
Watching one's moves with malevolent stare.
Waiting for it's chance to leap,
Often when one is asleep!
It's weight bears down upon the shoulders,
It's ghastly shadow gently smoulders.
Waiting for something to raise
That glowing ember to full blaze.
Once it starts, it's hard to stop,
Working its evil until one drops.
Nervous breakdowns are not rare,
But more often, feelings of despair.
Panic attacks and hallucinations
Appear to be it's close relations.
And what causes this oppression?
An illness sometimes called depression?
A nasty beast, so walk with care,
Because I know it's always there...
Waiting in that gloom and fog...
Yes, that Beast is...
The Black Dog!!!

MMF,
Have you seen the cartoon book about the Black Dog? Written by someone who has suffered a life time of depression, it is brilliant. Short, cler and with humour. A good book for sufferer and friend alike.
I can give you details if you are interseted?
I hope the poem doesn't mean the Black Dog is dragging you down again. if he is give him a kick up the rear - the only time I would dare advocate kicking a dog

Have you thought of booking a weeks holiday somewhere abroad that is nice and sunny in the winter time?
It isn't the cure for everything, however the sunshine in dark winter can work wonders and more importantly it gives you something to look forward to and plan for, a sense of purpose really for the winterdays. I have found a week or two away in winter works wonders, one heck of a lot more than summer holidays when it is already sunny!

Life is not totally but I met my best mate who I haven't seen for a good ten years, and it has blown the socks off me...
I can't post it here in case the person is online... but the person is visiting for a weekend, which is no problem... but the situation has changed, and I can live with that, but I need someone to talk to... and I don 't know who? Roymondo springs to mind, but it's not his scene, and family? Forget it!
The week started so well, and I am the person has been in contact, and I am perfectly happy that the person is staying overnight...
Oh! How pleasant it would be to have RL friends I could feel comfortable to talk to in RT, rather than VT!
It'll be fine... mass is all over in 9 weeks time, and the Meet will be fine.
Oh! I have not explained that well at all, but I have to be a bit cryptic!
Oh well! It is only ten days away, and I the person to pieces in a family way...
to trouble you all, and I will fade back into the wallpaper until my improves.
Gives me a chance to follow Gnomon's 'Buck Up'

Damn, I wish I'd seen this a couple of days ago! The word 'Christmas' in the title stopped me reading it!

Thanks folks, and thanks for being so supportive!
So much for keeping quiet the fact that I'm almost an ancient one.
Maybe the H2G2 autumn meet, in 2 years time, could be held on Saturday, 7th November, then I can hold my half Century with all my friends from both RL, all two of them, and my VL friends... i.e. you lot! And it may even be a day I'd actually enjoy! ?
Especially as I wasn't going to celebrate it, but if you lot are there... Well. I'll go for it!
* Maybe that long chat this afternoon HAS bought out a new me!!!!*
