I am watching the Last Night of the Proms on television for the first time in about four years!
And I can't see the keyboard for tears!
Is it me, or is the new format more emotional, being from around the regions?
I can't even sing along, as the words keep catching in my throat!
Yet I the whole thing!!!
Now it's Rule Brittania!
I don't believe it!!!
A very tearful MMF

I watched it too and felt the same. There is something so uplifting about it. it.
That all those people of all nationalities around the country could join together in song and good humour made me feel that it outweighed all the doom and gloom we are fed these days.
This is still a good country to live in and if more of that spirit prevailed it would be a whole lot better. I hope it showed the doubters who would like to rubbish this country that it still has a lot going for it.
Thanks MMF. Hope the tears were happy and proud ones, mine where
Hope too, that things are good with you at present. Keep in touch,

MMF, I can only watch last night of the proms with VERY close friends, 'cause I'm a box of tissues short by the end. Nostalgia makes me weep buckets. But I love it.

I it...
I want a recording.. It was so touching... All the regions.
But then I at Carousel. Why did a certain have to pinch 'You'll never walk alone!' as a theme tune?
It makes me just thinking about it!!!
I did enjoy this year's show though. Very well done, and a couple of nice twists, like the different arrangement of 'Sailor's Hornpipe.'
Well, from my perspective, as it is a to play, let alone fast!

I clearly don't understand the Proms. I thought it was classical music at the Albert Hall.

Hi Hyp.
This year was quite different.
Maybe some of the links here will give a taster.

Every year is different. My only Lats night was during the first Gulf war under GW senior, when an anti-patriotic stance was being taken by the original Conductor (subsequently removed) but in front of me where two campaigners with anti war banners, being very vociferous and were ozzies (who weren't directly involved) which I and others took exception to. They soon got moved.
That was then. May not be the same attitude now!

Wow! What a selection. Now I have another reason to feel sorry for myself because I can't afford to move to London. You have the most fabulous events there.
We have a bluegrass festival every year. It's fun, but it is hardly in the same category.

You better buy that ticket! It is in 2 weeks.
It's a shame the fares are so high and I can only get away for a couple of weeks at a time. Serioulsy, I am trying to figure out how to move over there for a long visit - maybe a year - after I retire. I might just be able to swing that, where I couldn't afford to live there. My pension will let me live here fairly comfortably, but it would never be enough over there.

Hi Bob. I suppose if I lived in an interesting location (or even near an interesting location) a house swap might work. But I don't, and the person who took over my digs would have to do a lot of expensive traveling from here in order to see things in the US. The good thing is that I'm centrally located in the middle of the country, so I don't have to make 3,000 mile trips like I would if I ws going from one coast to another. The bad thing is that I'm centrally located in the middle of the country, so I always have to make a fairly long trip to do anything.
That's an interesting idea, though. I'll give it some thought. It's a few years away, so there is plenty of planning time.
