Hello Pinky. I saw your message on sarcasm thread and decided that I could not reply on that thread, as it could have been interpreted as Sarcasm.
I know that you had been ill recently, and as I had not seen your postings on various threads, I wondered whether you are O. K.
You may, also, have been busy over the Easter period.
Best wishes.
Charles.

Thankyou once again for your kind concern Charles, also for your quick response ! We won't know just how good,or bad things are until after next Tuesday ! The situation is out of our hands and in the hands of a surgeon,we're all just hoping and praying the outcome will be a good one ! It's so difficult discussing personal matters on here,I'm sorry, I must sound so vague ! I truly don't mean to be.You take care.Speak soon Jackie x

I think that I understand the situation. You are right to be vague about how things are progressing. I thank you for sparing me the details, as I am very sensitive to bad news. I look forward to when you are able to give me some good news.
Best wishes, Jackie.

Hello Pinky, I was glad to hear your good news and hope that your Aunt's health will improve.
I am O.K. but was told yesterday, that my Daughter, Sonia, (the one living in Guernsey)and her huband, have been given 4 months to move out of their States house(In U.K.that would be a Council house). The
housing authority do not take into account that her 2 boys, (now grown up) also still live there. Local rents in the private sector are sky high and decent houses to let, are hard to find. House prices here average £280,000.
We hope that all works out for them but we may have to help them out if necessary.
Charles.

Thankyou once again for your kind words Charles,I do appreciate your concern, sincerely ! However,I'm saddened by your news now ! The situation seems so very unfair.I'm probably suggesting the obvious here, and Sonia has undoubtly tried already ! Wouldn't it be a good idea to contact the powers that be in the housing office, explain the situation(about your grandsons still living at home)and just see if human understanding can actually prevail ? To these people, they're regaining a 'states house',in reality, they're making four people homeless !!! It sounds like lunacy to me ! I do have an idea about the price of property on Guernsey Charles,my nextdoor neighbour was born and raised there !She often visits for holidays!I truly hope the problem for Sonia is sorted out very soon ! Please keep me informed,I'll be worried now if you don't OK ? The trials and tribulations of life ? I KNOW we can't have a rainbow unless we have storms, but honestly Charles,do we need hurricanes ? You take care.Love Jackie xxx

I should not have mentioned about the problem in which my Daughter and Son in Law find themselves. Sorry to have bothered you about it.
They have been in that property for about 20 years and had expected that when their boys left home, they would then have to move out to make room for another family in need of States Housing.
As my Son in Law does a lot of overtime, their income is now above the limit to entitle them to a States House that is why they have to move out. At least 6 other households on that estate have been given similar notice. Sonia has contacted the Housing Authority and is waiting for an interview. It will take a while for things to develop and I will let you know when things progress.
Yes, life is never a smooth journey; everyone goes through good times and bad times. I have had my share of bad times. I try to take one day at a time and try to not look back into the past.
So, you have a Guernsey lady living next door to you, It's a small world.
Best wishes,
Charles.

Please don't apologise for discussing something that is obviously worrying you Charles.Sometimes it's good to beable to discuss things with an outsider ! (OK,a complete stranger who've you've never even met)If it makes people feel better, personally,I'm all for it !!...The system they have in Guernsey,is very unlike the one we have here !As far as I know, some council housing, remains in families for a few generations !! Making people homeless, would only cause more added expense to the local councils !It seems unjust in my humble opinion,to penalise people who are working hard, trying to improve their way of life for their families, yet, people who seem to just take from society, reap all the benefits !!As much as your son-in-law is doing overtime now,and earning above the 'limit',situations can change !Hopefully they won't of course, but who knows ?? So,the powers that be are saying..You have to stay in a poverty trap,OR become exceedingly rich !!!Lunacy !! I just hope these housing people can see common sense (not as common as we'd like to think of course !)Hope to be updated, daily if needs be Charles My Best Wishes to you too Jackie x

Hello Jacky, Thanks for your message. I addressed you as Pinky in my previous message, I forgot momentarily that I was not on one of the threads.
I hope to have some good news in the near future. They must be careful that they do not take on anything which may have hidden faults such as dampness. They cannot hope to have something as good as they have now without paying more than they can afford. Keeping fingers crossed.
Hoping you and your family are O.K.
Charles.

Hello Jacky, I have not forgotten you, who could forget someone like you. Sonia has things organised, she keeps notes of times dates etc. about who she has contacted; flats and houses seen; state of and rent asked for, etc. In other words she is building up a case why they should not be hastily evicted. She has gathered others to meet the local press tomorrow.
Changing the subject. It has been a busy time for me recently. The outdoor bowling season has started, I have had committee work to organise, and celebrated my **th. Birthday yesterday.
Hope you are O.K.
Charles.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES to you, from me Charles,I do hope you had a wonderful day ! These 21st birthdays,do have a very bad habit of coming around rather quickly don't you think ? I'm speaking from experience of course,I've had a couple myself already hahahahhaha Just sorry,I missed sending greetings to you on the day !....... Your daughter sounds a very efficient lady, and bringing in the local press can only help her cause, hopefully ! I'm on her side anyway.I do hope everything gets sorted in her favour very soon !....Daily reports,or even a quick msg,are always welcome from you Charles.I do however, realise,REAL LIFE does seem to get in the way of the important things in life hahahhaha Just a msg now and then to keep me updated and to let me know your OK ,will always be appreciated OK ? You take care.Kindest Regards Jackie xxx

Hello Pinky, it can be a long process to resolve the housing problem in which my daughter finds herself. Most of the property to let is over £1000 monthly, and for £200 weekly a one-bedroom place was damp and had mildew. They are trying to forget about it for a while, for mental health reasons.
Changing the subject, I hope that you are your family are O.K.
In Guernsey, today, we are celebrating our 62nd. anniversary of the Liberation from the German occupation. I was not in Guernsey during the occupation but my wife was, and she has many stories to tell about that period, but I do not like to look back into the past, we must look forward to the future.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Charles.

Thankyou for your welcome msg Charles, good to know your OK ! I must say,I can't blame your daughter whatsoever for putting things on hold for the time being, the rented property market everywhere does seem to be a minefield for most people ! Quite apart from the cost, the condition of many of the properties do seem neglected and inhabitable ! I do hope something turns up very soon for her and her family ! ....Thankyou for telling me about the 62 yrs celebration Charles,I heard nothing on the news. I'd have thought that was quite a special ocassion for any country,at the very least a mention wouldn't have gone amiss in my opinion ! I'm sure your wife recollected many memories,I know it was a horrific time for the people of the Channel Isles. Like you,I tend to look to the future, there's little we can do about the past, just hopefully all learn from any mistakes, not an easy task, for some of us,I hasten to add ! Everyone is fine in my family at the moment ,thankyou for your kind concern Charles. However, the weather here in Blackpool at the moment could be better. We've gone from the warmest springtime ever,to rain, wind and cold !! Summer can't arrive quick enough now hahahahaha.Hopefully speak to you soon. You take care Charles.Best Wishes Pinky
