Hello Pinky, thanks for letting me know about your forthcoming trip to Sunderland. I know that you will enjoy your visit, even though you will have some work to do; that is the kind of work, I am sure, you will enjoy doing.
We are all O.K over here. The housing problem has been in the local newspaper several times and has been on television, but, at present it appears to be falling mainly on deaf ears apart from a few of our States Deputies (M.P's). There is stiil a bit of hope that something will be resolved.
Hope to hear from you in about a week, but not in Geordie language please.
Enjoy your visit.
Charles.

Now it's my turn to be concerned Charles ! Hope your OK ? Regards Pinky
Hello.
Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Jun 13, 2007
Hello Jackie. Sorry to have caused you concern, I am O.K. I have not spent so much time on "hootoo" recently but do look in to see what is happening. There are a few who are flooding some threads with a lot of rubbish, and are spoiling it for others.
I am still trying to work out "Brainteasers" and "Cryptic Clues" when
I have time to do so, ( In between watching paint dry). No. Just joking.
Guernsey had a lot of U. K. press and television mention recently, on the occasion of the visit of the Princess Royal. She fell over, and, on being helped up by our Bailiff he is said to have been at the receiving end of one of her tongue lashings. Perhaps she had been helping William dispose of some of those alcoholic drinks which he had recently purchased?
Keep smiling. Regards from Charles.

Pinky Posted Jun 13, 2007
Hello Charles, just good to know your well and everything is fine with you and your family.I do know what you mean about some of threads becoming spoiled by people being extremely silly,it is rather off-putting,I agree.I normally completely ignore them, funnily enough they do seem to go away, eventually Charles hahahaha I did see the news about our 'dignified' Princess Royal, hahahaha I wouldn't be at all surprised if she'd drank more than William ! I feel sorry for your Bailiff,I can imagine her 'choice language' Charles !....Hope the weather is good in Guernsey ?Our heat wave seems to be over for the moment here in Blackpool ,rain all day today. The gardens, however are in desperate need,so I truly don't mind ! You take care, please drop a line to me when you can be bothered Charles,it's always good to hear from you.Kind Regards Jackie x
Hello.
Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Jun 16, 2007
Hello Jacky. The area where the Princess fell is notorious for the steepness and many have fallen there. However the cobbled main street in St Peter Port is far more dangerous for those who wear unsuitable footwear. There was, however, no need for the Princess to react in the way she did.
Our weather here has been very changeable. We had very hot weather in April. May was mainly cold and we now have warmer weather, and some rain.
I have never been to Blackpool but some go there just to see the illuminations. We are going to London for a week in July and are booked to see Mama Mia. We know our way around London, having been there several times. Our main holiday will be in October when we go on a cruise in the Med.
Bye for now and best wishes from Charles.

Pinky Posted Jun 18, 2007
Hi Charles, thankyou for your msg.Good to know you and your family seem well.I completely agree with you, there is no excuse for rudeness, espiecally from a Princess I'd of thought !...I do believe the Mama Mia show is well worth seeing.I have a brother(and his family) who live in Shepherds Bush ,London, and a sister (and her family)who live in Harrow.I try to get to see them as often as I can.My Mother lives quite near me here in Blackpool (well,I live in a small village just outside of Blackpool,Bispham actually)and I confess,I avoid central Blackpool as much as possible during the holiday season !! IF you ever do manage a visit ,remember, keep clear of the Golden Mile OK ? There's far prettier places round and about.Although, the illuminations are certainly worth seeing,I have to say ! Your cruise around the Med,sounds ideal,I hope you have a wonderful time ! I'll write soon.Take care Best Wishes Jackie.

Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Jun 27, 2007
Hello Jacky. Nice to hear from you. We are all O.K.
My daughter, Julie, who lives in England, is going to Blackpool for a few days, next month. What is it about the Golden Mile that should be avoided?
Sonia is next on the list when a home becomes available on a private estate of about 100 flats near to where she lives. Her next door neighbour is about to move into one of those flats, she must have applied just before Sonia. They are nice flats, I have been into two of them when I was "Sick Visitor" for the "Odd Fellows" friendly society.
I don't want to prattle on too long, I think that I have said enough for now. Glad to know you are well.
Bye for now, look after yourself and don't work too hard.
Best wishes,
Charles.

Hi Charles,so good to hear from you, pleased all seems well with you.I hope Julie has a wonderful time in Blackpool,I'm sure she will, the Golden Mile is quite safe, just to be aware late Saturday nights thats all ! Stag parties etc !!! It's good news for Sonia too,I hope she doesn't have too long to wait until a flat becomes available for her and her family Charles.Things certainly do look brighter though ! Just for the record, you can 'prattle' on to me for as long as you want Charles hahahahhaha I enjoy your 'prattling' hahahahhaha Everyone is fine here, life seems too calm,if you know what I mean ? That worries me hahahahha You take care.Kindest Regards Jackie x

Hello Jaackie. Nice to hear from you so soon. Thanks for the info re the Golden Mile, however, I am not likely to go to Blackpool in the near future.
We are going to a gig tomorrow night. Yes, you heard right.
My Grandson, Daniel, is the singer in a band and he also plays a guitar. It is not my sort of music but we go to support him and give him some encouragement. He has done some gigs in the past and has another next week.
His father is also a singer, (not the same sort as Daniel) and he and his friend run a karaoke at various drinking establishments on a regular basis.
If I were to sing in a karaoke I would clear the place out. STOP LAUGHING!
Bye for now and keep smiling.
Charles.

Hahahahhahha I'll stop laughing right this second Charles ,and just hope you all have a fabulous night at Daniels gig !I was a singer in a band a few years ago ,and I'm certain my parents and grand-parents didn't relate to the music we played either hahahahha However, they suffered and supported me too hahahahhaha They were fun times !I'm almost positive my Dad wore ear plugs hahahahhaha I can't be certain of course, just a suggestion OK ? hahahahhahhaha Have a wonderful night, and I can't wait to find out how the evening goes ! It's still raining here, more like January than June to be honest Charles. The good news is,it can't get much worse ! Hopefully ! You take care.Kindest Regards to you and the family.Jackie x

Hello Pinky. The gig went of well, thanks for the tip about the ear plugs.
Don't start singing till I have the ear plugs in, plleeeaase.
Just joking.
We have had a lot of rain here.
I went lawn bowling this evening and it was cold, like a winter's day, we had to stop the game after about an hour because of heavy rain. We had summer weather in April but none since.
There is a bit of good news to tell you. Sonia has been invited to view a flat which has become vacant on that private estate which I told you about, she is thrilled about it as she knows 3 or 4 who live in that area. She also knows the present tenant of that flat, who is moving out because he has bought a house. Keeping my fingers, legs and eyes and everything possible crossed. Moving in date would be early July.
Bye for now, regards to you and your family,
Charles

Thats such good news Charles,I mean about Sonia, not the earplugs hahahahaha I'm so pleased to hear things are beginning to sort themselves out ! Lets hope all goes well for her and her family ! It's the same here Charles, constant rain, not just showers, but torrential downpours !Even when the rain does eventually stop,it's freezing cold, for the time of year ! I'm beginning to doubt global warming Charles,if they began to investigate a new Ice Age,I'd have much more faith in that explanation of our present weather conditions ! And,next month they'll be telling us we have hosepipe bans !!! The worlds going crazy Charles if you ask me !Thankfully,I've found a sane friend in you,so all is not lost !You take care.Kindest Regards to You and your Family x Speak soon.

Hello Pinky. You may be interested in the write up of the band "Third Time Lucky" in which Daniel (Danny) is the main singer.
Finally this evening we got to see the return of indie-punkers Third Time Lucky who really showed how pop music should be played. Mixing pop punk with indie leanings and a huge dose of fun they stormed through a set of crowd pleasers in a style unlike any other band on the local scene.
Danny Pheonix of Third Time Lucky.
Clearly being on stage to have fun, this really came across to the audience who were, almost to a person, grinning away, when they weren't singing along to 3TL's catchy and hook filled tunes.
The band filled the gaps brilliantly with a mixture of bantering comfortably with the audience and demonstrating their musical ability with a few bass and drum solos.
This ability to banter with the audience was just one aspect of the massive stage presence and charisma displayed by both guitarists, Danny and Mim. While Mim chatted calmly with the audience between songs, Danny was, as ever, the archetypal front man.
With highlights including jumping into the crowd for one track and holding out his microphone for people at the front to sing along too Danny's performance hit all the front man marks and never quite seemed to tip over into arrogance, though it seemed like it might at times, but with the crowd in the palm of his hand he was totally in the zone tonight.
After finishing on a storming rendition of the lead track from their 'Love Etc' EP, 'Forever and a Day', the crowd still wanted more, so, Third Time Lucky gave them what they wanted with a second run through the fun dance along of 'Knees Up' which had everyone at the front singing and dancing and after it was over still not wanting he band to leave the stage.
With one show down, it only leaves one more before Third Time Lucky leave the stage for the last time, which is a real shame as they are one of few local bands representing a more poppy, crossover, style of music and also are one of the most entertaining bands I have ever witnessed in Guernsey.

Thankyou so much for sharing that fabulous'write up' about Daniel and his band Charles. You must feel so very proud of him,(even if you don't much like the music hahahahha) Does the band have their own website yet ? Sounds as if they're heading for stardom.I wish them all the luck in the world.Do they have any future plans to play anywhere in England I wonder ? I confess,I'm not into much of the modern music either, but, they do play the same kind of mucic my children listen too ! I use head phones ,always hahahahaha It's so very kind of you to inform me ,I do appreciate the trouble you've gone to.Thankyou Charles ! Hope the weathers brighter there than it is here ! Still raining ,and cold ! You take care.Kindest Regards to You and Yours.Jackie x

Hello Pinky. Sorry about previous posting, I pushed a button prematurely.
Daniel's other gig was last Saturday. The group write their own words and music. They had a good crowd there who were dancing(of a style) and singing along to the words, they also did a few pop songs. They did move to England last year but got homesick. They had a few successful gigs in U.K., pity that they had to come back.
Sonia moves in to her new home on 1st.August, she is over the moon about it and can't wait.
I will be in London all next week and looking forward to seeing Mama Mia and possibly one other show.
Best wishes,
Charles.
