I am exhausted smiley - puff

All my stuff arrived yesterday morning, in a terrible higgledypiggle because MAF had opened every single box to check for bugs smiley - groan To my astonishment, nothing is broken. Well not that I've found yet... five boxes still to be emptied.

Last night's sleep was the best I've had in months smiley - biggrin My own bed and silence outside (except for the dawn chorus of blackbirds smiley - ok). Today I've been full-on unpacking and organising things.

About half an hour ago I straightened up from doing some filing and realised I've tweaked a muscle slightly in my back, so I took some painkillers, made a cup of tea and decided to catch up with emails and hootoo. I shall have a bath before too long (long iron bath .. heaven).

First, I'm expecting a man to come round and fix my telly, which refuses to tune itself and the DVD/VCR won't hook up either smiley - cross I hate not being able to do things, but sometimes it's ok to succumb to assistance.

More anon...

smiley - yawn It's 6am and I'm starting the new morning routine smiley - yawn

I was half-full of good intentions to have a walk before work, but it's pouring, so the lazy half has won smiley - winkeye I'll go this evening instead.

The house is still in chaos of course, and it's a shame that work gets in the way of unpacking, but needs must smiley - sigh My evenings are going to be busy for a while.

The bath is boxed in, so I can't see its feet. However it's definitely iron and I can lie straight-legged with my head not quite up to the rim smiley - ok (Does that make sense?) I hadn't realised when I viewed the place that the bath was so good. However, the shower is dreadful smiley - cross They've put in one of the new low-pressure showerheads and I have to stand under it for five minutes to get wet. I'm going to sneak a better showerhead onto it this weekend, if I can work out how to get the existing one off.

Hello, frenchbean,

I hope I have caught you. I am glad you got everything and I hope the rest of the boxes prove to have nothing broken.

Take care with your back. You have plenty of time to get organised and if you go at it like a bull at a gate you will end up taking longer, not enjoying it so much, and you will be too tired for work.

Take care and keep us posted.

It's not one of those new 'green' showers is it? Some of those are just dreadful. There are electric ones that are horribly underpowered and deliver a dribble of lukewarm water. There are other electric ones that switch on and off according to how much water's flowing through the unit so that you either get ice cold water or water so hot it scalds you - no middle ground. Sometimes the line between what's good for the planet and what's good for the soul is drawn too far in the planet's favour. A good shower is a wonderful thing, and sometimes the only way to do it is from a tank of hot water.

I got a new showerhead and fixed it this evening. I'll find out how good it is later on smiley - ok

I've not done any unpacking at all this evening. Didn't get home until 6pm and decided to chill out smiley - smiley I'll tackle it again over the weekend.

Have an early start tomorrow, to be at the estuary mouth at 6.30 to help cannon-netting and then ringing Godwits. Can't wait smiley - biggrin Ditto on Friday, so Saturday's lie-in will be very welcome smiley - laugh

Back's okay: I evidently stopped just at the right time smiley - angel Perhaps I really am as wise as my years?

Sounds as if you might be getting a good balance there. Not sure about the early morning but what a great experience. I don't suppose you will have time for photos?

Glad your back is ok. That's the last thing you need just now.
