You have exactly 10 minutes to think of the 10 common English six-letter words which end in ...TRY

No internet cheating, of course.

When you've had 10 minutes, stop, then post below to say how many you found. I'll provide the answers later.

I got just six.

I don't feel too bad about those six.

Now that I'm done, I looked online and found a list. In that list I only saw two words that I missed but recognized as common English words.

I've got nine, but I don't know if they're the right nine.

I'll post the lists later, but I have 10 common ones and 7 less common ones (in my opinion). Not that I'd have found them in 10 minutes, mind. Nine words is pretty astonishing.

I was half asleep, I think that helps. I think better half asleep...

On that same page I found a list of 5 letter words. They listed 14, I recognized two: Entry and retry.

I checked for definitions of the other 12 words and none of them qualified. 8 found no definitions, one was a proper name, Autry, one was a chemical term, and two were colloquial misspellings, watry & extry.

I suspect similar results for many of their six letter words.

The only other 5-letter one I would add is nitry (an alternative for nitrous), which is in Collins Dictionary.

That was the chemical term I mentioned.

I got six in the ten minutes and two which I suspect are proper names. Am off to check.... Yup, one is a proper noun and one doesn't exist!!

I can't concentrate for ten minutes at a stretch. I have five so far, but they came to me while I was thinking of other things.

I got eight

I could make it up to ten by adding pretry and outtry but I doubt both of those.

Yeah, I don't think I saw either of those on that list I found.
