I wonder if there was ever a time in the UK when the hours of 06:00am to 09:30am Monday to Friday were ever filled with anything other than the vacuous and inane tripe that goes by the name of GMTV. The name, I believe, stands for "Good Morning Television," but gibbering moron would be more approprite. Every morning you can be sure to find that who or whatever comes up with this televisual garbage has been digging in the midden pile and managed to come up with a unique take on the "news" of the hour. The unique take is that the stories are covered in the most nieve and rabble-rousing manner thus far achieved by man. Any issue that is likely to have someone who weighs over 300lbs, lives in a caravan, thinks that tracksuits and signet rings the size of plates are a positive fashion statement or longs for the reintroduction of hanging, shouting the odds in the street and forming a torch-bearing mob are pushed to the fore and championed with such gusto that one would think that GMTV had a point.
But it doesn't, and that is the point. The show is 100% lowest common denominator and the presenters are the best evidence of this. It seems that they require little or no intelligence and need only demonstrate a mindlessly offensive personality and the ability to argue themselves into a corner in a debate with an inanimate object.
The whole thing should be wiped off the face of the earth in it's entirity for the sake of future generations.

OK you are quite entitled to your opinion but I am going to defend it because my mate is a producer over there. I do completely agree with you that if you have an enquiring mind then it is not the most interesting thing to watch, but people do watch it and they enjoy it. If they didn't it would have changed format by now.
Its horses for courses - if you don't like it and feel it doesn't stretch you enough listen to the Today programme, watch one of the satellite news channels or become a television executive! But don't expect everyone to want to watch two hours of world news - it is so flaming depressing!

I do just remember TVAM from my youth
used to like it, however I was only 6 ish and I remember the best days were at the startiof each year when they unvailed the new Egg Cup.
GMTV doesn't have Egg Cups, so I don't like it.
Key: Complain about this post
