An entry about the village I live in. Quite a bit about the things around it but I've got a couple of good external links that should work though they haven't on occassion because, well, they're made by people in Blair

Mmmmm...raspberries.
Big village, with 8000 people, isn't it?
Wonderful entry, of course. Glad you've finished it.

Well, actually Blairgowrie and Rattray are probably considered one town in the census, and therefore it's around 8000 in the two...
probably should have mentioned that
Glad you approve B, I don't think I would have put it in if you hadn't expressly told me when I'd don't part of it that I should
Thanks Kat.
Mmmm, was quite lucky got my sister Tweetie to check it all through for me...hey take advangtage of 3rd year English Student Sisters while they're still living at home

ANd it's a town not a village...I put village up there because my gran had been nattering in my ear that she'd just been into the village for messages and for some reason I put village in tehre just after rather than town

I wish this entry could get a blob (if it manages it's way through PR) the area is gorgeous, seems like a shame not to show it off

You've certainly got a lot of history on your doorstep! I've considered writing an entry on the small town where I grew up in Staffordshire, but have usually decided against it as it'd be too sparse.

I didn't really realise there was, it's just kinda there, I only decided to write it because, well, I was bored

Yeah, but you never really think it's worth visiting anything local because it's only local and well, you think you've always got the option so you'll do it some other time.
There's just one vaguely interesting slightly touristy site within five miles of where my parents live - the cottage where Izaak Walton (the bloke that wrote 'The Compleat Angler' back in the 17th century or whenever) lived - and I finally visited it last Autumn.
A mere 25 years after we'd moved to the area, and 6 years after I'd moved away...

True, but when I moved here we were still young enough (3, 5 and 7) to be getting taken trips around the town and thinking it was amazing etc...

Town or village? Classically, this should be quite a simple argument...
A hamlet is a group of houses. It becomes...
A village when it gets a church. That becomes...
A town when it has market(place). Which then becomes...
A city when it gets both a cathedral (or other notable place of worship - eg York Minster) and a royal proclamation.
Odo has poured cold water on this theory by claiming that Newport has had a cathedral for years, but it only became a city at the turn of the year (for the Golden Jubilee), but I claim she is mistaken.

This is great! I used to work at the activity centre near Dunkeld, and I've dropped into Blair a few times - there's an excellent chippie there, if I rememebr rightly....
Only two suggestions - it's worth mentioning that Macbeth has its origins (IIRC) in a true story, and perhaps a link to A642151, the name of a person who can juggle six pints while playing snooker.....

Ooh - I used to know a girl who worked at said activity centre. Did you ever run into a lass called Helen? About 6', long blonde hair.

Did Otto ever meet Helen? Is her hair really 6' long? Find out on Master B's personal space....

The Best place just to buy Chips is Ps & Qs and they're great, not that I've been in there since primary school
Well B Blair is definately a Town as it has numerous Kirks and the Well Meadow which is the Market. ANd I should have known that from what I supposidly learnt in Geography.
I@ll link to that page for you Otto So technically Dunkeld should have at one point been a city because of the Cathedral as should Coupar Angus...um, B, I think Odo's right, your plan is flawed
trust me, Coupar Angus is a hell hole!
I'm glad some people who've visited Blair approve of the entry Nice to know

It's not my plan! It's history and tradition and all that other stuff that we seem to be rapidly forgetting into this country as we all slowly become Americans.
**can feel a rant coming on**
