Stumbling in (life so far)

Wowbagger

Hi. Saw the lights on and thought I'd pop in.

That's not entirely true.

I haven't visited h2g2 for quite some time and suddenly, for no apparent reason, I find myself back here. I really have no idea what made me think of revisiting (please don't interpret that as I don't like this place - love it - lots of good memories and friends come from here). Here I am though.

To explain my absense: It seemed okay to juggle everything in the past when it was just myself, the bride, the boy (now 5 1/2) and the cat, but when our brood increased by one (a lovely lad - at the time of writing this he's 20 months old) a little spring cleaning/reorganising of our lives was needed. Visiting h2g2 regularly was one of them. Unfortunately 'regularly' eventually turned into 'at all' and I disappeared - from here anyway.

I'm back to see how old friends are going (if they're still here) and to sight-see a bit. Time is still limited, so no cartoons I'm afraid.

Life is good. Hope you're all doing well.

smiley - cheers

Oh, I use the Kristina account to leave ACE messages - to keep those messages from being drowned in my usual conversation list. It'd be a pity to miss a newbie replying...

A lot of influx, but few stayed, that's my impression.

But the few of those who stayed are turning out to be just fine, I think...

The PROFANITY FILTER seems to have aggravated several oldies quite a bit - including me - and some have chosen to left, and some have chosen to stay.

See, my problem with the filter isn't about not being able to swear - my problem is to figure out what exactly will be picked up by the filter or not - and it's not as easy as it might seem at the first look - English is *still* a foreign language to me, and I'm far from updated on which slang/dialect words might cause offense...

Understood.

A profanity filter eh?

Like you... I don't have much of a problem with that except, even when your first language IS english, 'english' is different from country to country. The only times I've had problems of that nature on h2g2 is when I've used words that are perfectly harmless in Australia, but are considered rude in the UK. Again, like you said, it's a slang/dialect thing.

Nice to hear that the 'stayers' are good smiley - biggrin. I wonder how many 'oldies' are gone?smiley - erm

'ello, stranger! Long time no see!

Downunder still treating you well, I hope.

Some us "old timers" just slip in and watch from time to time. I like to check it out occasionally to see who's still around occasionallysmiley - winkeye.

I'm afraid so much has changed that I no longer really know my way around. Must say it's fun to try, though.

Cannot complain. It's the usual.....

Work too much, smoke too much and drink too much....one will kill me, I just hope it's painless!smiley - winkeye

Nice to see you on here, "old man". I don't get to see many of "the original bunch" while I'm "lurking". Darn nice to see a familiar face!

By the way....I hope Spring is pleasant for you there. We've already had our first "killing frost". Injoy the summer!smiley - smiley
