Opticalillusion- media mynx life would be boring without hiccups Started conversation Jan 6, 2009
So Christmas is over, now what are we going to do? For me I'd like to get in shape and continue discovering the world. There's so much to learn and I feel like I've only scratched the surface at times.
Take Alice in Wonderland, how many people knew she actually lived and how much do we really know about what went into creating the stories based around her?

Her grave is in Lyndhurst and, although it is some years sibce I've been there, I think there is a small exhibition in the Lyndhurst Museum.

Jeez! I feel a dope !
Sorry Opti, sorry Al.
I replied after reading the post, but not the poster, thought it was still Opti.
Sounds like a great story - in real life, and a nice part of the world.

Guildford has connections to Alice, and there are some interesting statues in the castle grounds. See http://www.guildford.gov.uk/GuildfordWeb/Tourism/Alices+Adventures+in+Wonderland.htm

ooh lots of interesting points people for your input
Yes Lofty I hail from Wessex and know Oxfordshire well
I'm not sure about sailing I'm rather prone to hiting my head on the boom and going round in circles but I've considered going swimming and working on a cruise ship
Good news Jim I understand that a film on Alice in Wonderland will be released in 2010 with Matt Lucas playing one of the characters

Hi Opti
Where's Wessex, isnt it near Mercia?
Hey thanks for bringing the subject up, Opti-i've read the links that have been posted about Carroll, and it is all quite an intresting read.
So when are you starting jogging Opti? I might throw off my sloth and start with some light jogging now.

BigAl
Stories are great. I particularly like ones written for children as they are not taxing on the brain and like Alice in Wonderland some of them have deeper meaning.

Hi Opti, the story behind Alice in Wonderland has always intrigued me and is one of my favourite childhood stories apart from Peter Pan.

Is it your birthday on the 21st?
Yea i ahte putting a good story down and that being the end of it, if there are some places or people(places it seems store up more fond memories, dont you think?), that are rlelated to the story somewhere-it keeps it alive.
