There is still hope for mankind

The airbag control light in our car flashed when I went to do the shopping last week. At first, I wasn't sure what it indicated, but after I had checked the doors and seat belts, it suddenly occurred to me that it had to be the airbag control.
I researched online and found it is a common occurrence in Nissan cars and most likely just a cable come loose.
Apparently, there are ways to fix it yourself, but the car electronic has to be reset, and anyway, it is better to have it checked.
I called the garage today, and I was lucky, I could go there this afternoon, and wait for the car (the garage is quite far away).
After about 30 minutes, all was fixed and reset, and I asked for the bill.
To my huge surprise, they didn't charge me anything.
The last garage (another car model) once did the service check (which was their task), then washed the car and set the car wash on the bill.
I was not amused.
It is nice to see that things can work to one's favour, too.

Lucky it didn't go off in your face! That happened me once with a faulty one. They pack a hell of a wallop!
My face was bruised like the smiley.

Ouch.
I don't know which one was not OK, I think the car has four airbags in total, and I don't know if the position of that flashing icon was indicative for its position in the car.

Lucky it's a Nissan, if Microsoft made cars the airbag system would ask; "Are you sure you really want to do this?" before deploying, and for no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.

Their advertissement here is:
Er kann, sie kann, Nissan (which translates as: he can, she can, Nissan).
I don't think Microsoft could claim that for their products.

You guys are impossible.
I'm glad you got it fixed, Bel, and hope you never need it. I've never seen one deploy, and I want it to stay that way.

My husband once had one deploy in a car crash. It probably saved him from being hurt. The car was much damaged, but he wasn't.

Not all of us could survive such a cranial attack and remain as perspicacious as yourself, Prof.
I admit it - I fell on my head as an infant, and have never fully recovered.
