Loss of internet - again

Post 1

Yes, it's sad but true - my PC suddenly decided it would no longer recognise the hardware for the W-Lan wotsit.
Reset, rebootet the PC - no joy. Installed the wotsit again - still no joy. It now shows me the available networks, but can't connect.
I can't even connect via cable, because my PC doesn't seem to have the necessary slot anymore since the husband changed something after the last hard drive crash. (It now has four additional USB ports, though, none of which I have any use for). smiley - erm
I never noticed the cable slot had gone, and I'm sure he'd not have gone without the cable option had it been for his own PC. But then any dodgy W-Lan is good enough for me, I guess.
So, unless the husband will fix things, I will once again have to rely on the goodwill of my sons to let me use their PCs.

That's no fun at all. Does he often 'fix' things like that?

I'm sure he was convinced I wouldn't need a slot for the cable, after all, I don't play any online games where you need a stable connection.
I had got used to lsoing the connections everyso often, resulting in lost posts, or lost entry updates when I was very unlucky.
I have no idea what exactly happened now, though.

Maybe I should do it as long as the PC works at least offline. Maybe another data loss is imminent, who knows?
