The house I live in is going to be decorated: outer walls, window frames, balcony.
So, ten days ago we got a notice that this will be done some time between today and 09 November, and that the balcony should be free of everything by Monday next week.
As per usual, I didn't read it properly, thought it had to be today and started clearing our balcony at 8.00am this morning.
This involved several walks three floors down (carrying heavy and not so heavy things) to the cellar or the waste bin respectively.
Took me nearly ten minutes to push one rather voluminous bag into the bin, because the openings of the bins are more than chest-height, so no chance of using my weight and pushing the whole thing down because I can hardly reach up there. Now my arms are aching as well as my legs (the latter from climbing a very steep path yesterday). I'm quite exhausted now.
And I've only got rid of half of the stuff by now, not to mention that the carpets are covered with earth and I'll have to do a thorough hoovering once everything is downstairs.
Good job I've still got the whole week to finish.
I need a

Sounds like you need something stronger!
You must have a large balcony to have all that stuff on it.

It's not only all the work it means for me, it's living with a scaffolding around the house for two months, too.

Thanks.
I could do with a lie-down, but don't have the time.
I guess I should leave a few things for the boys to do once they're home from school.

Simpost.
No use asking my husband, he's too busy.
I guess all he'll do is complain about how messy the cellar looks.

No, I hadn't seen that.
Who'd have thought that something banal as that would be QotD?
Besides, did anyone notice that they start the quote with " and finish it with ' ? Maybe preview would be their friend, too?

Make sure you have a nice hot bath later on this evening, otherwise you'll be aching tomorrow! Nice bit of rosemary essential oil in it as well if you've got some.
It sounds like hard work, but if you've managed to get rid of a load of stuff you must be feeling quite satisfied as well?

Good idea aybout the bath.
If I look around and see all the stuff that's still waiting for me, it's daunting. Once it's all done it will be satisfying - I hope. The trouble is, I don't really get any satisfaction with housework done (and I count this as extended housework), I just can't identify with this sort of work at all.

I never said the exhaustion affected my brain.

I hate housework, but it does feel nice sitting down in the evening knowing the floor's been hoovered, the coffee table is clear enough for a coffee, and I can find the TV guide.
Good luck with the creepy-crawlies. It's daddy long legs time here in Essex. The only insect I really, really hate.
