A Conversation for Tips on Moving in with Someone

I used to be a member of live-in staff at a care home, which suited me wonderfully. I lived in one of the staff-only wings, with varying numbers of other people, and it was a really relaxed place. We all understood that the job meant working difficult hours and that people would be in and out at odd times. We all understood that if you fall asleep on the sofa it is not the responsibility of other people to be quiet - if you want a proper sleep, go to bed.

Obviously we argued about things. Food space in the cupboards, the mess in the kitchen, the girlie magazines in the toilet smiley - erm and who gets the remote. Who spilt red wine on the carpet, who flooded the shower and/or the kitchen. Just how many clothes do you need to wear and how do you cope with accidentally seeing them naked? Who played music all night when the person in the room next door had to get up at six. Who broke the crockery, the freezer, the clothes horse.

But there were a lot of good times, and there were always people around to have fun with, have a meal with, pick a film to pieces with or go to the pub with.
We didn't all part the best of mates, but I made some fantastic friends and wouldn't have missed it. It was work related this time, but if I share a student house that's how I want it to be.

I don't suppose that's helped anyone at all, but it made me happy to write it smiley - smiley

Be prepared for other peoples bad habits and their reactions to yours.

What do you mean you dont have any?

The worst thing I do is leave the house in a rush cos I dont want to be late and think I'll get back and tidy up later. To find somone else is unhappy at having to be my cleaner or a pile of wet towels dirty clothes or dishes dumped out side my door>smiley - erm
