I keep reading about teenagers who won't talk on the phone. They think it's a stone age implement. Everything is texting nowadays.

There's one exception: when college students at my alma mater are calling to get some money out of me.

My kids use the phone. Actually they probably use the land line when they're home because it doesn't cost them anything. They were quite late to get themselves mobiles, as they always like to swim against the tide, even though they are .

My middle one often sounds like his Grandad (my father). They share a name and many traits. Once I told him he could do something on line, (buy tickets, or renew his passport or something) and he said "But I want to speak to a PERSON". Could have been my father talking.

I like to speak to people too, but they have a funny habit of working regular office hours. If I want to get something done before nine a.m. or after five p.m., I don't mind doing things online.

Some people are nice to talk to, others not so much - and some of the servers you do business with after office hours seem to be very closely related to Marvin
