Traveller in Time Reporting Bugs -o-o- Broken the chain of Pliny -o-o- Hired Started conversation Dec 5, 2006
Few days ago I installed Firefox 2, faster smarter, more usefull options.
Internet Exploder just installed itself over the previous version ignoring many of the restrictions I previously configured. Simple primitive and collosal, (several minutes download and a system reboot).

Traveller in Time trying to use IE again
"Besides beeing very primitive in the tabbing, full of advertisements to musof and still having a way bigger footprint then the other browsers.
I can not think of any advantages over the others. "

Traveller in Time trying to get positive
"They direct you to many _musof_sites_ for whatever you want or use. From search to bad link all end up at one of their sites.
I have no interest in them knowing what I do or not.
Did an upgrade to FireFox 2 on a DebIan system yesterday and they give you a real choise to report to them - or not. Musof started with verifying the authorisation of XP. Nothing to do with a browser upgrade, just meaning this is not a free upgrade, you only can get one if you legally purchased XP, so it is a service update for XP.
Screwing up the security is just confirming to me musof is the worst virus there is. Where Firefox not only took my configuration over without any miss, even some added features.
What is primitive with the tabbing ? First thing: how do you keep an overview when more then a dozen tabs are open, there is just space for three or four, FF, Opera, Netscape, Konqueror even Off by One all have a seperate line in the header for the tabs, not somewhere jammed between some navigation and the search box. Have a look at the system load with IE you use as much resource for a single tab as for a new window, where FF only uses about a quarter. "

I'm with you there. My processor is slow enough without having to use IE as well. Lately I've started using more Microsoft products after a decade of Linux, and I'm amazed at how slow, clunky, and full of bizarre bugs they are. The only reason to put up with such crud is that they have a monopoly in many areas.

The fact that IE took over and stopped the newer installation is a nuisance. Perhaps defratmenting could tidy things up a bit, and then try again?
I use both IE and Firefox and both have their uses. Have just found this:

Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary] Posted Jan 1, 2007
I have both, but Explorer tends to be easier with Hebrew sites. And I really don't have any problems with it personally - I don't care if the tab idea is stolen, it works well and I like the way the favourites window works. Same as the search window, which I have on Google and have recently gotten used to.
What annoys me in Firefox, and won't matter to any of you of course, is that I cannot right-align the text when writing Hebrew (on emails for instance). It's very inconvenient.

Well, I'm not saying you can't _see_ right-aligned text... I don't know, maybe it's just my lack of techy-ness, but usually when writing an email or something I can change from left-to-right setting to right-to-left with a ctrl+shift, and on Firefox it doesn't work.
Which believe me, is very annoying.

Apparently it's something about the language definitions. I don't know.
I mainly use IE out of habit.

"I liked it when we could configure the refresh time of each page. Now I cannot find the vallue anymore .
I like Netscape for its more then sufficient security, Mozilla for the flexibility, Firefox for the light feeted stablility, Opera for the automated feeds Internet Exploder if all others fail to show what is intended. Then IE shows how to crash properly .
However for some reason I still prefer this text-only ligtning fast little thingy. "

I like Safari on my mac for speed and ease of use, but when I'm shopping I use Firefox because it's more secure.
I'm trying to get my mom away from using Exploder.
