Lots happening as per usual.
Now have 3 midwifery clients. Was 4 but I decided not to go ahead when it became obvious that it would be difficult to work with eachother
Attended a lovely home waterbirth recently
I will soon have the pleasure of working with one of the most famous midwives in the UK It is something I've always hoped to do, but didn't imagine I'd ever have the chance.
Currently chief tea-lady to a team of builders who are demolishing my chimneys, so we can have some heat this winter. We wanted a wood-burning stove as we don't have central heating, and it's predicted to be a cold winter. The stove fitters found the chimney blocked. When it was unblocked they found it unsafe, so it was demolished. It then has to be re-built and then maybe we can have some heat.
I can't wait. Fed up of fighting with children and cats, for warmest position in frount of the gas fire.

Thanks to you both. The wood burning stove is in but haven't had much time to enjoy it yet.
looking forward to working with the other midwife, although the thought of it scares the pants off of me

Oh I'll help!
*sarcasm*
1)Keep your pants on -
2)have the expectant mother remove hers
You will be great!
I suppose being a bit scared is better than overly confident
I am excited for you

I'm never confident but am good at acting as if I am. I am reassured that many midwives feel this way. I have a great independent colleague who has been practicing for 30 years still doesn't feel confident. It is a very positive attribute as it keeps us on-guard for the unexpected.
I'll be hanging on to my pants firmly when working with the other midwife. She is just soooo experienced and I've never worked with her before. I cry easily and she seems such a strong woman. she has told me off before and I really apreciated it, as I had been too nice to hospital management and it backfired on me. She calles a spade a bloody shovel which is why I respect her so much, but she is formidable.
Have a wonderful Christmas

Forgot to say that I'm now having to fight 3 cats and 2 children for position in frount of Woodburning stove. It is lovely but has reminded us that our old sash windows need replacing to stop all the heat from escaping. I'll have to see quite a few more clients before we can have them done.
