Nah, your userId is a number. look at the top of your portfolio page.

There's some "solid blocks" of colour at the top of the page. Where exactly is this number?

It's black on orange.
For me it says 'PORTFOLIO: FRANKIE ROBERTO (User ID: 2689891)'
on the portfolio page.

Thanks for the reminder, but I just checked and you're already added, and coming in a number 2 at that.
To see the league is a bit confusing. You have to go to the 'create/edit personal leagues' bit on your portfolio page, then click on the 'h2g2 crew' link which will show up under 'leagues you are in'.
