h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'm trying to write an entry on Coleraine (coz that's where I live) and just wanted to see if there's anything anyone wouled live specially included or any fun bits of info that I might not have picked up on. Especially in relation to things like the Milk Cup and the NW200 as I'm not a sporty person and so I can't rely on my own brain coz I don't know too much about them.

I'll make sure anyone who adds stuff gets a mention. Due credit and all that.

Well, I have an entry on the North West 200 that's going through its final stages at the minute, so you should be able to link to that!

I grew up in Castlerock and Portstewart so I'll jot down anything I think might be of interest:

University - origionally a Poly, when did it merge with the Jordanstown one?

Famous son James Nesbitt (who was standing behind me in the queue for boarding at Heathrow last night...)

Downhill Castle, the Hervey Bruces - I did a whole project on them at school

Kitty of Coleraine (this rings a bell - did we not do this list once before?)

Importance of the river Bann - coal and shipping, railway bridge, marina

County Hall, vehicle licensing office for all of NI

More as it occurs to me.

I'd forgotten about Kitty of Coleraine too.

I don't know that part of the country well. Is Bushmills close enough to Coleraine to be included? In particular the distillery.

It's only 10-15 miles away, so yeah it's probably worthy of a mention, especially with all the tourists that come up here. you should come!!
