Hi there!
So you find yourself on H2G2... That's just peachy, welcome!
But surely, you do not expect the grammar police to show up here?
Also, the use of the word nifty was pretty keen.

Hello PenGwen, thanks for the welcome. I looked at your page, and including your name, you talk about two of my favorite animals. Monotremes rock! (Or egg I suppose) The Grammer Police, are there here? They've tracked me down again, stinkin' flatfoots!

I don't think the grammar police show up online at all... so you are prolly safe. The spelling police don't show up either.
As for platypuses (or platypi if you prefer) and penguins, of course they are two of your favorites... they do rock (or rook in the case of the latter). I don't know about echidna though... I never met one. If you happen to know a friendly echidna, and think he and I would click, I would be interested.
Do you chat?

xero Posted Mar 20, 2003
Whew, thanks for the reassurance. I know echidnas lay eggs, in burrows I think, they're into the digging thing anyway.
Isn't this chatting?

er... okay, this is chatting... sort of.
I knew echidnas laid eggs. So they burrow, eh? Does that mean if they take a fancy to someone they dig them? (Ouch! Bad 70's humor, never mind.)
So did you go to my web site and meet my platypus?

I suppose it is a little delayed, more like a coorespondence eh?
Bad humor is the best humor, from whatever decade, especially puns. We should get a Punday competition going, winner gets the nights free! I wonder if anyone has actually restrained themselves from touching the platypus, not me!

Bad humor is just that... bad. Funny, but bad. Naturally I like it! Of course my motto is, "It's okay to be bad, as long as you are very good at it." I suppose that applies to humor as well.
I have been told there are people who have actually resisted the temptation to touch the platypus. Indeed that isn't what the platypus told me. He said everyone touches him.
He gets so cranky about it, I suppose I should send him to the Bahamas for a vacation (or holiday if you prefer). I think, however, he actually likes being touched, so he stays. Obviously if he wanted to take _me_ to a tropical paradise, I would allow him to go. Maybe we would meet a nice echidna.

Could be dangerous for the poor fella though, the echidna too. Ones covered with spines, the others got a neurotoxin in it's feet. Prickly buisiness, if you get my point.=)

I didn't know echidnas had spines... knew about the platypus. Mine isn't particularly likely to use his.
It seems to the only one this holiday would be really dangerous for would be me. Never mind. Guess I will stay here, and leave the island paradise to the critters... hmmm, "Monotremes in Paradise," sounds like a movie of the week.
So, how goes studying for finals? Are you still enamoured with the H2G2 concept, and has anyone terribly interesting come along with really mind-blowing stuff?

xero Posted Mar 22, 2003
They have spines, a long extensile tounge, no teeth, and feed mostly on ants.
Studying for finals goes no more, my last was on Thursday. So I need to change my message. h2g2 is great, it's just what I would look for in a Guide, I wish I could add my own pictures though. It seems silly not to be able to, what would be the difference between monitering pictures for content, copy right infraction, offensiveness, etc. and monitering the text for these things as they do now. It would be alot easier, you only need to look at a picture.
The most mind blowing individual I've encountered so far is a rather irritable platypus...but he doesn't seem to have much to say.

The platypus, if it is the irritable one of which I am thinking, does not even reside on H2G2. He must be interesting indeed, if though he doesn't live here, he is the most mind-blowing individual you have met here. He must, in fact, be be even more mind-blowing than a mind-blowing thing that is really very mind-blowing.
That blows my mind, man.

Whoa, sounds like a line from the manifesto of a new tailored cult, tailored towards really mind blowing stuff stuff that is even more mind blowing than things that are very mind blowing. Come to the commune today!

You know... it could be. I've always wanted to taylor a cult, just to suit my special desires (Ha, taylor, suit, get it? Oh, that was bad).
Ahem... anyway, I am beginning to see the makings of an evil... oops, make that a mind-blowing plan.

You had better look at neilfish's list of the top 100 things he won't do if he becomes an evil warlord. Should be applicable to cults as well.

PenGwen: Benevolent Tyrant of Hebetude and Vivacity, Keeper of the Wonder Book of Useless Knowledge Posted Mar 23, 2003
I would, but I don't know where to find it.
It doesn't matter though, I don't want to be an evil warlord. I don't believe I would be good at it. Besides, I would rather be a benevolent tyrant, with a predisposition toward hebetude and vivacity.
So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

xero Posted Mar 23, 2003
neilfish has links to his web pages on his h2g2 page.
You could taylor your cult towards lethargy and general laziness, sounds like a good change of pace for cults these days. They're usually so into the 'lets drink poisoned coolaid, and/or burn ourselves alive' thing, that they forget the simple joys of sloth.
When i grow up i wanna be a fiowman on da moon, an wide a dinosauw to wowk. That or get a Masters in Geology (Geomorphology and/or Hydrogeology) and work for a geotechnical firm. I'm trying to keep my options open right now, and you?

I looked for neilfish on H2G2, and couldn't find anythig. Do you have a link?
I've put a great deal of thought into the question of what I want to be when I grow up. I really do want to be the benevolent tyrant of hebetude and vivacity. If I can't be that, then I'll just be the Queen of Everything! Otherwise I guess I'll go in law.

xero Posted Mar 25, 2003
I have lots of links to neilfish on my page, you could look at the pennying conversation for one.
Yeah, I suppose you could always fall back on law, benevolent tyrants and Queens of Anything are in rather small demand lately.

PenGwen: Benevolent Tyrant of Hebetude and Vivacity, Keeper of the Wonder Book of Useless Knowledge Posted Mar 25, 2003
Dang... queen of everything sounds like so much more fun... and probably a lot less work than being an evil overlord (I read the list). Law is much harder work than either though, at least if you are an evil overlord, you can make someone else survey your castle, kill your enemies, and paint your toenails!

PenGwen: Benevolent Tyrant of Hebetude and Vivacity, Keeper of the Wonder Book of Useless Knowledge Posted Mar 27, 2003
I thought I would let you know, I've become said tyrant... I decided to try it on for size. Don't you think it suits me?
Now, to find someone to paint my toenails, and make
