My father died early this morning. He would have been 62.
My dad is gone and I don't know what to think. I am completely lost at the moment. My world has turned upside down. My biggest fear about moving away from my family has been realised. They need me there and I am stuck here...

Thanks Annie. I really feel destroyed at the moment and am not very coherent. I think that I will be up all night now..

I don't know if you know that my father is terminally ill, so your pain is mine, my friend.
We're all here, if you need us..

He was still young at 62, this must have come as a terrible shock for you and your family. Look after yourself and get back to your folks as soon as you can

I'm at a loss for words Marv...

Marv, I'm so sorry. You have a good support group here. Use it. We all love you.
(That goes for Annie, too. This webite can be a hugh comfort during rough times.)

Marv - I second what Hyp just said.
You're adrift just now - but remember your friends will keep you afloat.
I know you'll be a huge support and comfort to your family - and that can be a heavy weight to take on your shoulders but you'll find the necessary strength within yourself.
Sending you my love and best thoughts.

I think you probably still have my cell number, Marv. Use it if you need to.
My condolences are with you and your family. I remember meeting your father, and I found him to be a good man.

Things are alternativly rough and then OK. Things are not good right now.
I am trying to get on with my life but I find myself making poor decisions (like if the loan goes through on this car... I am too young for amid life crisis but this will be the perfect vehicle (in more ways than one) for it) and questioning everything I do. It makes no sense. Wether I buy a car or not, do I have this other drink or not etc. are really meaningless in this context but I am not happy with some of the decisions that I have been making.
I don't know...

You just have to do what you think is right at the time, Marv.
If you're worried about making a wrong decision - perhaps it might be better to postpone making any big decisions until you're back on an even keel?
Try to take things one day at a time - then you don't have to look at the big picture until you're ready.

I would say that's a natural reaction to the shock you have suffered.
You're under a great deal of stress, I think there's a top 3 of 'most stressful things' that can happen to anyone - divorce, bereavement, accident...you need time to adjust, this is a whole new life for you - the one without your Dad
Your world has been knocked out of its orbit, and you need to take time to recover and get back into step. Don't rush it, and try not to make any life-changing decisions right now.
I don't know if you can get any counselling but I recommend it. If not, we're here to listen

It's been a feew weeks since I've been here, so I'm definitely late. So sorry to hear of your loss. Losing parents is a life altering experience, but I know you will handle it.
As was said before, try to get back to your family, at least for a visit, as soon as you can. In this situation there is no therapy that is as good as family support. At least that has been my experience.
Me and mine will be thinking of you.

I hate to hear the news about your dad, Marv. Losing people that close to us changes our whole world.
