h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I can't remember the last time I posted a quick update, so here it goes.

Currently 4 days into my week off, and I've sorted out Xmas presents for everyone barring L.
I've also booked a long weekend in Barcelona for next April, with a couple (well, two couples and three singles, plus me and L) of friends. That should be "muchos fun".

The new job's going fine. I've gotten the hang of basic html, I'm enjoying it a fair amount, and I was awarded "Employee of the Month" in my first full month at the company.
The only bad point is a client we might have to take to court. His website was designed by my previous employers, who told him that I was a liar and incompetent, and that he didn't have to honour his contract with my company.

The best part of the job, is the great clients. That and when I'm let loose as a copywriter - I'm apparently now our in-house copy specialist, and did a few odds and sods for the company site. Which was nice.

Other than that, it's business as usual.

I your shopping progress. My Wonderful puts it all off till the last possible minute.

I tried that one year. I think by half 11 on Christmas Eve, I'd just tipped my budget into a charity box and started to write out "This Christmas I've donated your present to the NSPCC..." letters.

I used to finish work at noon on Christmas Eve, go into my regular (The Golden Cross) and spend the next 3 hours drinking. The gaffer would usually buy drinks for his regulars after this, so about half three I'd sauter across the road to a large department store (Owen Owen) where I would do all my christmas shopping.

I would then go back to my car, wrap then all - with the paper and sellotape I'd just bought, and be back in the pub for opening time.
