Well, not really but on it's way.
princess just got a message that she has been accepted as medical student at my old University. 
I'm very happy for her. I've not been that worried, she had very good grades, but she has - as many young women - not been as confident.
There will be some celebration in the Lair this evening.
I'm glad that my not always acceptable working conditions has scared her off. Most of the time it's a fantastic and rewarding job, but the downsizing of the health care system takes its tolls for sure.
I just hope she will be as enthusiastic when she graduates in 2016 as she is now.

princess sends her thanks for all the well wishes, and so do I.
She is very exited, and is planning to dig into my bookshelf in order to prepare herself. I'm trying to make her calm down, and ensure her there will be plenty to read the coming years.
I might lend her a book in basic anatomy, but that's about it. After all the human body haven't changed that much since the 80-ies when I was a medical student 
- guess much other stuff has...
There were some and niblets served in the Lair yesterday. Unfortunately both 
and DJ are out of town so they couldn't partake in the celebrations.

This is so cool, congrats!
We've never had a doctor in the family... somehow nobody ever felt the calling. We do/did have a couple of veterinarians, pharmacists, geologists, and one biologist (me). But so far, the next generation consists of a resort manager, a website designer, another veterinarian (yay!), a high-tech musician, a theatre director, two architects, a puppeteer, and a budding simultaneous interpreter... oh well... our family tree is going all artsy now!

Well, that was an insider joke designed to amuse you... he calls himself a "Herbergsvater", do you have a better translation?
One could also say he's a certified goat milker and reasonably well-known politician.
Needless to say, we're talking about the COOL nephew here!

so far we've only had one ophthalmologist in our family tree, but now there are two

and we have provided the industry with a lot of sick
