I was in town at lunch, trying to get presents for The Missus. She'd written out a list.

I had tried yesterday, but on opening the list, found it saying "Potatoes, suet, milk..."

Damn, wrong list!!

I brought the right list today, and found myself in one shop, looking for a specific perfume and body lotion. As I was searching, a young female assistant with about an inch of makeup trowelled onto her face asked if I needed help.

I mentioned that I was looking for a certain perfume, and was told this was the place to buy it.

She said some strange word, followed by the name of the perfume.

"Pardon?"

Again, she repeated the strange word, then the name. She pointed to a shelf. Ahh. This *could* be the perfume I've been sent for... but I'm not sure. I wasn't going to risk it.

"You could always take a tester home," she said, spraying a bit onto some paper, "Then she could try it - or he could..."



I took the tester and left.

I mentioned this in the office at work, to much hilarity.
One secretary said "Don't worry, you *look* married!"

"Err... I'm not sure how to take that... I *look* married??"

At which point, all the secretaries joined in -

"Downtrodden"

"Grey"

"Balding"

"Stress lines"

"Worn out"

While looking at one display I felt a tug on my arm, and a voice said "Hello Dad"

I turned, and found myself looking straight at... well, to say she was a gorgeous blonde would be an understatement. Stunning... yes... Roughly mid 20s... Rather took me by surprise...

Then reality kicked me in the shins, by reminding me that she mistook me for her dad...

Hmph...
