Well, the rest of the family is away (accept for my brother, though he's joining them in a couple of days), and I come home from the shops to find my dad's car's been burgled. smiley - wah Now I have to try and handle a police investigation on my own.smiley - yikes The police aren't any good either, already been told completely controdicting things. I can't secure the car either, the lock's got holes around it where it's been picked. I can't even shut the door. Really don't know what to do here smiley - headhurtssmiley - wah The property's been found (it wasn't worth anything, just in a metal case), but the car's basicaly useless. smiley - sadfacesmiley - wah

That's really awful. Can you get the car locked into a garage (I assume it's on the street). Maybe you should ask advice from your parents' usual garage.

Good luck

I'm not sure the car's even drivable, and as the doors were all open, I suspect the batery's wrecked..

Off to go check to se if the batery's alright.

The batery still works, and I can lock the doors, though because of the hole exposing the mechanism, it is now easily picked smiley - sadface. Still, not quite as bad as could have been.

If you can't get it locked in somewhere, it might start to "disapppear" part by part....

What a worry!

...exactly smiley - wah. I can't drive, so basically it's a 'sitting duck', not that I would be able to fit it in the garage anyway

smiley - ta it's all so completely pointless, all that was in the car were exersise books and some saucepans from the last physics experiment my dad run, but the cost of the damage could well be more than the car's worth smiley - sadface

Turns out what was taken was in what looks like a power toolbox, which would explain it, as that type of burglery is very common around here..smiley - sadface

..might want to make sure there's nothing that looks valuable in your parent's car Alison, seeing as you live so close..

dancinglady (Life's truest happiness is found in the friendships we make along the way)

I'm sorry to hear what happened. Couldn't someone drive the car into a garage for you? At least it would be off the street and the damage wouldn't be made worse than it is now. What about the RAC or the AA, would they be able to help?

I hope you find a solution soon.

I've got my next door neighbour to move the car to a slightly more secure area.smiley - smiley Will have to get in contact with the insurance company tomorrow as the door will need replacing, it will at least be safe while it's in for repairs.
