h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

...going downhill with a tail wind.

We went for a bike ride today, to the now extended end of the bike path. It's been constructed over the past 8 years through the rails-to-trails program, which puts a paved path where there used to be a railroad line (many of the lines near here haven't been used for 40 years) so it's nice and flat and about 10 feet wide-plenty of space for a whole mess of people. So we weren't exactly sure how far it was to the new end. It turned out to be 10 miles, and with the fact that we had to turn around and bike home it turned into a 20 mile trip! It was a lot of fun though (good thing my sister is at camp and didn't come, because she would have hated it). And the entire trail is supposed to be completed by 2006 and be I think about 20 miles long. The only problem right now is getting right of way where the trails end. They even have the money to extend it! (that's a *really* big surprise)
Oh, and it didn't rain on us.

I like to say that with two wheels and a key I can go anywhere (within reason). But the key's not for the wheels, it's to get back into the house when I'm done.

All things considered though, between this and 5 hours sifting dirt at the dig yesterday I'm not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow.

That's cool! We have a cycle in our spare room and because it's got all those wonderful and weird things that tells you stuff, I found out that I rode 5km in 9mins25. Thing is...i don't know if that's good or not
Nothing beats a real bike though! Unfortunately it has rained all day and I've been holed up in an office for 9 hours...

I know, how you feel, I went out the other day, Its fun!!!!
