HonestIago

Today I signed my new contract: I've had a significant promotion and a pay rise that essentially doubles my take-home pay. After missing out of the Head of 6th Form job (which I really wanted), this is a nice consolation prize that is a lot of extra money for no extra work. The head came and sat with me this morning, saying just how huge the change in my work has been.

2 years ago they were looking for ways to get rid of me, now after record results for two years, they can't imagine 6th form running without me. I've worked long and hard at that job, I finally feel I'm getting good at it, and it's nice to get recognition for it. We're doing some really cool stuff at the moment, launching a punch of new courses and just today I started planning to take a group of students to do some volunteering in Gambia. The 6th form is unrecognisably different from how it used to be: I'm particularly proud that the guys have arranged a trip of their own.

With a new incoming head of 6th form, it'll be all change again, but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm actually looking forward to going back to work after the half-term.

It'll be nice to spend this new money: it's mostly going to go on holidays/travel which will be very nice. First stop: the West Highland Line and the Outer Hebrides this summer.

You can call me TC

Well done for all your achievements so far and also for getting them recognised. It's nice when they let teachers run the schools instead of the government trying to tell people in their amateurish way how to do it. And you have proved that it gets results.

smiley - applause. We also have a spare room.
