I'm not off to the best start for the month: I'm really struggling for anything to say. Main reason for this is because I'm on half-term and I've spent the past week utterly devoted to relaxation: the final few weeks of term were horrific so I'm recharging my batteries before I go back on Monday.

This November is going to be interesting: I've got some cool work stuff coming up. Next Wednesday is going to be particularly interesting as I'll be trying a full day on no sleep - I'll be staying up all night for the US election.

So that's post no. 1: I'll try to make the next 29 more interesting/focused/coherent.

I'm always interested in reading your journals HI, and as I remember some of the stressful stuff you've written about recently, you certainly deserve a day or two's total relaxation. I hope your batteries are recharged and you get off to a good start next week.

smiley - yikesWhy, if I may ask, are you staying up all night for the US election? I'll be going to bed, probably not knowing the winner and I live here!

It's something I've done for every election since I was 13: I'm really interested in politics. Plus I'll be interested to see what happens with the House and the Senate (whether sanity returns or whether they remain ridiculously polarized) and what happens with the various marriage equality amendments. I'm particularly interested in whether marriage equality passes in Washington State as I've got a couple of friends who want to get married but don't want to cross the country to do it.

I do the same for British general elections and I like to keep my eye on Aussie elections (though I don't have to stay up for those): I'm just a politics nerd.

Gosh are you reading political science in school or law?

I did a politics degree so I figure I might as well get my moneys worth from it: it's very rare for me to get to use it - though after the last general election and hung parliament people were asking me what the rules were.

That's good that you are a resource person for people. Dmitri will have a journal entry on Propposition 8 constitutionality law case in California and I'll be sure to let you know when that comes up as it would be of interest to you.

Personally, I don't see sanity returning any time soon, unfortunately. I'm following the marriage amendment in Minnesota as I'm sort of from there. Hoping it fails as it would make same sex unions illegal in perpetuity. I do have friends there who've gone to Iowa to get married which isn't too far, but it's still frustrating not to be able to get married in the state where you live. Living in California now, I am hoping Prop 8 gets shot down by the supreme court.
