Monday 17th of October. Forgive the maudlin

The following journal entry has been inspired by Jack's recent announcement on his PS, I'm perfectly fine. It just made me realise a few things and I just wanted to say a few more things
I realised that I consider a lot of people on here to be my friends, despite not meeting any of you or even knowing what you look like or are even really called. This doesn't matter to me in the slightest, I've read enough philosophising, ranting and general gossiping to get to know you. and I like what I've gotten to know
I've also realised that I care about you lot, I'm really happy for az and Noggin having spent a happy year together, I'm chuffed when mikeo tells me his relationships are going well and sympathetic when they didn't and I'll drop around to give congratulations on birthdays and exam results and that sort of stuff, because it makes me feel good when things go well.
It makes me feel great to know that there is actually a support network here, I can rant and moan and whimper and someone on the other side of the planet can offer tea and sympathy, while I can return the favour
In short, I'd like to raise a toast to you lot, my life would be a duller place without you Iago

Aw, that's lovely, Iago!
The support network thing is certainly an aspect of h2g2 friends that I also value very highly. I can think of a couple of times (at least) when I don't know what I would have done without being able to talk to a dear hootoo friend or two - especially at 5 in the morning! Which of course is another wonderful thing about knowing people all over the globe - someone is always around if you need them (or if they need you).
Here's to hootoo friends!

Maudlin? Not as far as I can tell.
Mind you, I'm watching Nick Cave videos to cheer myself up, so maybe I'm not the best judge.

Awww ... bless! Even though we're not a million miles away (not even more than a few miles away most of the time!), I'm still glad you're on here as well for pretty much the same reasons - especially since what has been happening to me recently (see my personal space for details), which I would find very difficult to say in real-life.
BTW, can we start chatting online again?

Well, since I moved out of halls and am now relying on standard Uni cluster computers, not really
However, I am getting myself a computer soon, been working like a dog the past few weeks to earn the money
