I acknowledge that there could be much more in this article, as there were at least 60 people who helped him and the whole event took 42 days, but I believe this is a reasonable overview. I remain fascinated by the event and would appreciate any information that people would be willing to give me. I'm also planning a major commemoration of this in 2011.

Hi there tbo, and welcome to PeerReview. I can see you've put a lot of effort into this, so I'm sure other Researchers will be quite keen to comment on ways you might improve it.

I take it you want your entry to make it into the Edited Guide - that's why you've put it in this forum - so you should have a look at the EditedGuide-Guidelines and EditedGuide-Style pages and make a few changes.

Otherwise, this looks like it could be a useful and interesting addition to the Guide

A very thorough entry. There are a couple of technical points to do with House Style:

Dates: for full dates, we always use the format <>

Paragraphs: in the GuideML, can you put at the beginning of the paragraph and at the end. You presently have both at the beginning and at the end. Remove the tags.

Quotes: for short speech quotes (as yours are), put the quoted text within italic tags, and remove the double quote marks. For longer quotations (where copyright permits) there is a facility. In other cases change the remaining double quotes for single quotes

Footnotes: all footnotes should end with a full stop.

whilst >> while (considered archaic - I like the word personally, but there)
The word 'meaness' appears. Since this occurs in quoted text, it may be spelled that way in the original, in which case it should remain as it is. It could however just be a typo.

Wow Bob, that's brilliant. The thing is is that I'm in the process of setting up a website to cover the event I'm organising for 2011, so this will give me a good practice. I'm sorry I've not had a chance to write anything for any articles here, it's been a hectic day, I will try to fit some in tomorrow, but Mondays are usually busy. I was meant to have a fortnight off, booked holiday, starting next Tue, but as it's is now I've got to come in 3 times next week so that put the kybosh on settling down and getting some personal work done.

I wonder if you could consider re-iterating what I said in my 'Salisbury' Entry about Wilmot and Canon Henchman meeting in the King's Arms hostelry, Salisbury where they used to signal by means of lighted candles to Lord Coventry who lived in Malmesbury House in the Cathedral Close?

Reason I ask this is that I intend to write an Entry about the Kin' Arms to which we can put mutual links.

Was this lirerally at the stones, or just in the vicinity of SH ?

Hi Bob, it's actually a series of events, where the SK does a "major" re-enactment of Worcester (already being planned), then the whole of the 615 mile route is walked / ridden with the King's Standard taken by teams of walkers / riders (where possible) along the route, a bit like the Olympic torch, but with musketeers dragoons and Pikemen as escorts not blue tracksuited PLA members. Every surviving property along the route holding it's own celebration / event / display etc.

Finally a commemoration service / presentation at Shoreham on the anniversary of his departure.

The main aims are:
To commemorate this historically important event
Raise the profile of the properties along the way
Provide an excellent opportunity for sponsorship to raise money for charity.
Get as many schools as possible involved.

Hi Big Al, I will include the links. I don't have much more information about what Charles was doing at the stones, but I believe he was hiding at the Hall during the evening and acting the tourist during the day. I have a dim recollection that either Charles i or II ordered a large amount of digging at the stones, with a lot of Articles taken to London and subsequently "lost", which obviously is a source of annoyance to archeologists. I will go back to the books and see if I can pick up anythin more specific. Though there IS a LOT I've left out,as there really is a couple of books worth of detail for the full 42 days, and I've tried to keep this to an article.

I see from your initial post when entering this into the writing workshop, that you first wrote this in 2001 and I notice that it's almost word for word the same as an article published in 2001 at the Sealed Knot website.

So, I'm assuming that you are one and the same author. I think it's possible to have your article published in both places, but I think that some extra disclosures may be needed on account of copyrights or something. It's not familiar territory for me and perhaps someone more knowledgeable will weigh in.
