The only reason I found your page on here was that the Introduction was the 900000th page, so I found it by browsing by URL. I shall explain...
Each page can be accessed on the site by it's number, so your one is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A900000 , where A stands for article, and that one is the introduction to your page.
Each user has a page starting with U and then their researcher number, for example I'm at U211512.
Each message centre has a number starting with F (this one is F107106?thread="smiley - geek" title="geek" class="smiley" src="http://www.h2g2.com/h2g2/skins/Alabaster/images/Smilies/f_geek.gif"/>)

Don't worry about not replying promptly. People round here don't seem to mind whether you reply straight away or wait six weeks!

Keep up the good newbie work! Thought of any guide entries to write yet? If you ever do get into Linux, then 'An Introduction to Linux from a Beginner's Perspective' might be useful. I thought about using Linux as a second OS (second, since I certainly can't do without my daily fix of Wintel mayhem!), but haven't gotten round to it yet!

I've been playing for about six years and I am still. Sort of semi-classical. But I'm hoping to move to jazz sometime soon (like sometime in the next 2 decades).

Well it helps to have an aim! I don't think I'm the most desperate smiley campaigner, U194668 seems quite adamant about his moose! Maybe llamas will prove more popular...

Good luck with the music. I know what you mean though, since I stopped having regular lessons I haven't been putting in quite the same hours that I used to. If you do move onto jazz, though, there are one or two big bands in the area I could put you in touch with, but that's just my area, if you know what I mean!

BTW I'm building a new PC soon, the one I'm using now is way too slow (Duron 1.2ghz, 128MB sd-ram, 16mb graphics card)

oh, wow! I thought about building mine, but decided that ready-made systems are so cheap now it wasn't worth it.

The spec you've got now doesn't sound that bad. My old one was an AMD K6 400MHz, 56MB sdram! It's still chugging away now. The new one's a huge improvement by comparison (Athlon 1600+, 256DDR, 64Meg graphics), and I haven't found anything I use it for yet to tax it that much!

I haven't seen Alvechurch in the guide but have you seen Redditch!

I had about the same spec as you did until our hard drive gave up the ghost. I've ordered the parts and they are going 2 arrive sometime this friday!
