"BDO CHIEF WELCOMES BULLSEYE'S BIG COMEBACK
By Jon Wilde, PA Sport
Darts chiefs have welcomed news that a new series of popular game show
Bullseye is to be recorded 11 years after it disappeared from the ITV
schedule. Recordings will begin at Granada studios in Manchester next
month with darts commentator Tony Green reprising his role as scorer,
although a new host is being sought as Jim Bowen will not be involved.
British Darts Organisation chief executive Olly Croft believes
Bullseye's return provides a further boost to darts, which was finally
recognised as a sport in this country last year.
"This is great news for darts and even better news for BDO players,"
said Croft. "The producers have asked the BDO to help them source
contestants - professional darts players to compete for the famous
`Bronze Bully' on behalf of charity, and teams of two (darts player
and general knowledge buffs) to play for the money and prizes on offer
each week. Just like the original, this new series will enhance the
profile and popularity of darts and our players by taking our sport to
an even broader audience."
Bullseye, which attracted 15 million viewers every week during its
heyday, continues to be repeated on satellite channel Challenge TV,
while Ant and Dec revived the show as a one-off last October featuring
former world champions Eric Bristow and Andy Fordham.

How long ago, and why didn't you tell me???
Great news though, isn't it? If they're filming next month, it's probably too late to get on it, alas.

Who would you pick as host? I'm wondering if Bullseye will still be Bullseye without Jim Bowen. When Channel 5 tried to bring back It's A Knockout without Stuart Hall, it didn't really work.

I found out on the UK Gameshow website about a week ago.
Jim Howen is pretty irreplaceable, it's true. What about Peter Kay?

It was actally! We got him to autograph his book "I'm Tony Curtis and so is my badger", and he did it with less shock and surprise than Neil Innes did

Dave Spikey (of 8 out of 10 Cats fame) is going to be the host.
Damn good choice, I reckon.

Yeah, where the heck did Dave Spikey spring from. I'd never heard of the guy until I saw one of those 8 Out of 10 Cats shows, and I was hooked from that moment on. The guy is fantastic.
