Just reading your intro, thought I'd pop in & say hello...I share (somewhat) your interest in world music...although you seem to be quite 'schooled' in it,I've got too many other musical interests.

Hi Darrell -- just happens I'm a Canadian too (from Toronto) but I've been living in London UK for about 18 years (!) Thanks for paying me a visit so quickly.

Good to get a prompt reply, & from a 'transplanted' Canadian, at that. Was a bit rushed, earlier, had meant to mention a great blind husband & wife, from Mali, that were at this past summer's Folk Fest, here. He played guitar, she sang, & they'd brought along both a band & dancers. They - Amadou et Mariam - certainly kick-started the evening's entertainment, with their percolating polyrhythms, & alternately soaring guitar & vocals. If you check the Folk Fest site, theres a nice photo of the site in our River Valley (looking north west.) Actually, you can also access photos of the various performers, etc. Its www.edmontonfolkfest.org/ ,(the radio station mentioned on the site, CKUA, has a great World Music program, called Tin Roof Radio, Sun. afternoon - here...lets see, a 7 hr difference...would make it about 6 to 8am, Sun. morning, there.)

Sorry about that, Tessa - got the time difference mixed up, its the other way 'round...so, I guess, 8 to 10pm, Sun. evening, there. In any case, the CKUA site (if you listen to radio on the 'net) has a daily schedule. Just realized my mistake, thought I'd just correct myself .
