Well, looks like I'm moving jobs. Some may know I'm up for TUPE transfer to VeryBigFrenchITCompany (tm) at the end of March so I had a bit of a look about. First job I applied for, got an interview for and have now been offered it. Thus keeping my 100% record of every job I've ever gone for I've got.
Not 100% sure it is the right thing (never am!) as it's only a 2yr fixed term contract. But it will mean me learning a new technology which is very marketable. And the environment seems good.
May not be on here during the day so much though!

Sounds like congratulations are in order. 
It also sounds like you want to and should take it. Is there a nice tasty salary increase too? There usually is when you move jobs...

not initially, no. In fact starting is slightly under my current. But there's a very healthy payrise scheduled in October. So taken together it's above my current.
Yeah, I think I want to. Bit nervous about the whole new job thing though!
Oh, I forgot to mention - 40days holiday 
That's worth a few quid a year in its own right!

The job is at birmingham uni so I'm sure they'll be more worried about what the students get up to than me!

Can never remember where it is you work McKay - but I know them as CG, not sure if that is the same as CGS?

well, that's it. Last day today. Hand back all the kit (including mobile phone - now, do I go get one of my own or survive without? Not sure yet).
Bit strange really, after so long, to be leaving, oh well, got hols from now till I start at new place on 1st April so a good break anyway.
And then I'll get to see if I can get on here from the new place
