In another thread I've just told Ami there are a couple of possible French sources:
For instance: www.mammuthus.org has a quite nice bibliography section...
If you think any of the books would be of any use I'm quite willing to try and hunt them down over here.
In the same way, if you run across any French source material on the web that you'd like translating, just give me a shout.

I've e-mailed the French Newspaper 'Ouest France' to see if I can get hold of a copy of the article mentionned in that bibliography (Chasseurs de mammouths en Bretagne - Mammoth hunters in Brittany)
If they let me have a copy (don't hold your breath - this is france we're talking about, they're not exactly consumer friendly over here) I'll knock together a rough and ready translation of it for you

The illustrations are dreadful. I can draw much better mammoths than they can.

Some of their pictures are screen shots from their animated sequences - which they made using stuffed toy mammoths apparently. I didn't see the series and, having seen the book, I'm quite relieved about that. I assume the series was made with trans-atlantic sales in mind.
