h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

NYT had an article, complete with helpful pics about installing more adult playgrounds in the parks and greenspace.
They had an impressive number and variety of outdoor equipment. Nothing like the kids- real gym type movements
with resistance and counter balances etc. I do not subscribe to the NYT so I can only read 6 articles a month
I cannot get a link due to my limit for the month being up. It is very impressive! People are flocking to the ones they
have , so the city feels the free program will pay for itself in no time. There are other cities wanting to follow suit.

Hi, abbi. Long time no see! Welcome back to the zoo.

There are adult 'playgrounds' here in the UK, but not enough of them IMO. Some have gym-type exercise equipment (weights, treadmills, cross-trainers, etc.), others have more simple exercise equipment (set up initially for the elderly to exercise). None of them are near where I live, so I can't go and try them out. I'll have to stick to my daily (or not) walk with the occasional riding lesson. I probably won't be going for a walk today as my knees are acting up. Riding tomorrow may not be a good idea, either.

My main concern about these outdoor 'gyms' is that they seem to be unsupervised. This could cause two problems. One is that the equipment could be damaged, either deliberately or by people who don't know how to use it. The other is that people who don't know how to exercise could end up harming themselves (pulled muscles, over-exertion, etc.) If that happens, I can see court-cases as the UK gets more litigious.

In South Ockendon at the local park, there are some very basic gym equipment which consist of static exercise bikes and bars.

PaperKid (the one with a page--I've not been using it much, since I plan to hand it over to her once she's old enough) is now 9, and is a big sister to a 3-and-a-half-year-old! Both girls are doing well, and this past April, we finally assumed a huge chunk of debt (we bought a house)

Hi Abbi, the nature watching is fine, the badgers are still visiting, birds too, but I just do not have as much time to watch these days.

I haven't been in touch with AR1 for a long time. I haven't seen her on h2g2 for a long while but that doesn't mean she is not around, I just haven't had time to look.

You have a lot of catching up to do but I am sure the people who now 'drive' h2g2 will be able to bring you up to speed.

We are SO lucky to still have h2g2 and much to thank them for.
