Something like that. Never figured it out wither. Like bowling on ice. Maybe for those who don't have any grass.

You should have watched the "Top Gear" dedication to the Winter Olympics last night.
It was hilarious.
They even got a mini on skis and did a downhill run.
My son and I were falling about laughing.

It may not be helpful to the understanding, but curling is essentially the same as shuffle-board. But on ice. The sweeping is actually to cause friction, marginally melting the surface of the ice microscopically, and allowing a controlled slide of the rock to it's best position.
Clear as mud, It's very popular in many parts of Canada.

Yeah, I'd heard that. The blokes with the brushes brush until the thing's near where they want it to be then stop so it doesn't drift too far and the other team start brushing to make the thing go too far.

Yep. And you'd be amazed at the work-out the sweeps get !!! Much is needed to keep them hydrated.
Well, that was our reasoning on all the military units I worked on.

It seemed most popular as a sport at the most remote locations. And oddly enough, in it's many forms was even more popular.

I have no idea why they insist on calling our team British, both the men and the womens teams AND the commentators all come from Scotland, I don't think it's played South of the Boarder

Especially if it's so popular in Canada. How did the men do? Or is that one of the highlights they save for towards the end of the week?

British team, yes, the only chance of a medal for us, and the flag'll be the Union Jack
About the only time the Scots (and Welsh) ever support the English & vise versa

Ummm, I'm not quite sure how I ought to take a blend of posts 16 and 17. "Minority sport", and "especially as it's popular in Canada"?
See ya's.
