Hope you are well.
I've been better. I've been worse. So, mustn't grumble. (Still no Marvin, eh?)
A friend has suggested a few times that I should have a blog, to express my opinions on matters skeptical, and the like, in a more formal structured/cogent manner.
He seems to think I'm not entirely meretricious.
Whilst I don't believe anyone on h2g2 ever held me in anything I had to say on such matters with any high regard.
I took to thinking that perhaps the Journal or Article system on h2g2 could serve the purpose of hosting anything I wrote, and getting intelligent feedback from my peers.

"getting intelligent feedback from my peers" Hmm, not so sure about that
Back when h2g2 was first launched though, whilst it wasn't *the* first blog out there, it was the first main one that anyone could join and write to. Other platforms have come along that provide space for people to write up their thoughts and ideas, their views and concerns, but in general they don't have a community. It's hard to get people to go along and read the entries without active promotion.
Here however, it's a lot easier to have people drop by and say "Hi! Was just thinking that same thing!" or "Are you out of your mind!?" And many things inbetween.

"intelligent feedback" is always hampered by smiley's!
Tell you what, I have two blogs, a deviant art page, I have a tumblr, pinterest and god only knows what else, and h2g2 is the one one which I don't gate myself on.
Well, not quite true, I gate myself a lot, but I know this is the one place where I can be honest and openly vulnerable and not feel like that's bad. I missed that when I was gone and I'm glad I came back.
I'm glad you're back too
Em

Here's a question for those that do blog, what could h2g2 do to make it better/easier for you?

Photo uploads.
Not that I've updated my blog since the first entry, mind.

Yeah, that does seem something that we need to add. And I agree. We're actually not adverse to that believe it or not, but it'll take a bit of rebuilding of the system to get it in.

Uploading photos or embedding codes would be very good. Better than having to link to your own photos at least I'm sure you could do that back in the good old html days of hootoo...though I may be imagining that.
The only real differences I can see between h2g2's journal and a blog entry is the ability to edit, add photos and tag. And tagging isn't that important. It would be nice to edit journal entries though, as it's inevitably once you've pressed 'post' that you notice a broken link, typo or dodgy smiley code.
The thing I like about h2g2 compared to blogger is I can keep my entries separate from my journal - not that I've written any entries since I got back. Whereas with blogger it's all muddled together and you really do rely on tags to make for easy access and keep similar posts together.
I'm in the middle of writing up a couple of blog posts, if I think of anything else I'll let you know
