I've been enjoying the first series of Babylon 5... Got the series on DVD for the affordable price of £25. My first DVDs!

I used to be very cynical about DVDs cause they cost so much and I didnt they they could be *that* much better. But I was surprised, the picture is much sharper. *must stop being a cynic*
I havent really seen Babylon 5 myself, apart from in passing now and then.

Well, I've not invested in them because, 1: I'm poor. 2: Didn't have a computer capable of playing the things until recently.
Almost my entire video collection comes from bargain bins and charity shops, which I systematically search fairly regularly.
Babylon 5 is my second favourite sci/fi series. It was ground breaking in it's use of CGI, the scriptual concept and was pretty much the first sci/fi series to be made on a TV budget that actually looked visually stunning [ST:TNG cost about a million and episode]. They had some pretty top guest writers too, such as Niel Gaiman.

Well I dont have much money myself, particularly as I smoke way too heavily (but then again I'm tryin to quit from sunday) , so this is why I keep a boyfriend. Eheh
Anyway sounds good, so I may check it out next time I see it pop up on the schedule

Mmm. I've been smoking more heavily recently. It limits what I can do finacially severely but it's a comfort.

Got psychologically addicted to the cancers first time I went into the looneybin.
Everyone kept offering me cancers and there really wasn't much else to do with the time but sit and smoke with people.

Yeah I know, that can be a problem. when other people smoke its tricky not to get dragged in

Some people can't- under too much stress, and the added shock of withdrawl is too much to handle.

Psychological addiction. Some part of me believes that having cancer will calm me down, help with the stress or strain. Conciously I know it won't...

That should say '...having *a* cancer...', which could still be confuzzling to anyone that doesn't have even a passing familiarity with Nadsat, which I do slip into from time to time.
Anyways... I've watched all 22 episodes of the first series of Babylon 5, the episodes with commentaries and the two documentries and all the other 'Bonus' material.
The last few episodes had various stuff in the character development and plot that prodded at my "Suz fallout burns"...
I figure I'll start with series two, which I also managed to get at the lovely price of £25, soonish!

Ah, season 1 of B5. Such simply joys.
It's rather weird going back and watching the first season again after watching the whole thing through to the end. You notice the points were JMS started building in the plot. And you notice the things that people do and don't say, which leave holes for the plot to fall into.
Like when Morden first arrives on Babylon 5, and the sentry notices that his ID card hasn't been used in a while. Morden just mentions that he's been out on the edge of the galaxy for a while, doing some archeology. "Find anything interesting?", says the sentry.
"Yes," is Morden's reply. He doesn't say what he found though. And in that lack of explanation, great hordes of plot do hide.
