Stephanie is dating this guy Jon.

And apparently I'd like him.

But, I don't think I want to meet him.

But, I do want to meet this astoundingly wonderful and fabulously amazing person, my dearest Stephanie.

So, if things go well between them I have to face two questions.

1) Is it still a good idea to visit her in Michigan?

2) Is a question which is for me to figure out in private.

I love Stephanie. She has love my always. Nothing and no-one will change that.
Long-term or short-term, if this brings her happiness I can find nothing to complain about.

I think, if you can find it in yourself to meet a favourite person and her loved one, you will have a good time. I'm sure she loves you, but might not be "in love" perhaps.

Can you imagine that I actually want my almost ex-husband to have happiness with his new love Afsaneh? They already live together, and it seems to do him good.

I made a mistake. I made a lot of mistakes. And I know that yes I will keep loving. I won't push away. I won't lock my feelings away in a box and try to forget they are there.

I hardly think love is a mistake. But I'm very glad that you intend to keep loving, and keeping your feelings alive and in the open!

Love hurts but I wouldnt be without it, you know you're alive, one way or another, while there's a passionate spark.

My personal leaning would be towards not going. It's a hell of a long way to go to upset yourself. If it was 100 miles or less it'd be a bit different, but it's not.

But on the other hand you might feel you need to see her in the flesh and meet her properly... Yep, a bloody hard one...

On the subject of the original question, I had a similar thing but they weren't an ex, and sometimes it bothered me seeing him with some one else, and one day I actually got on with the other person and moved on.
But it was probably a personal experience, I don't know if it could work for anyone else. Think about if you actually want to go that city, and how likely she is to be right.
