Soul Survivor 2002!

Furthermore, quoting element 42
'god is everywhere and all things and all that, isn't he?
then if god is god, getting to know him can be fun. it can also be dull. it can be anything that we feel. i'm sure (if it exists) that god doesn't expect us to be ecstatic at all times.
(i challenge anyone who claims reading Numbers is fun)'
So, God is everything and everywhere, except bad things like child abuse. Mmm. Does this 'God' character have a monopoly on everything good going on in the world and wipe his hands clean of the unsightly business then? And what about dinosaurs? Were they good or bad because I never found anything about them in the bible. Maybe they weren't his doing.
He is omnipotent, yet doesn't do these things simultaneously Whoami? How does this work and why does the fact that child abuse can go on for a long period of time mean that it is not getting to know God? Maybe God teaches valuable lessons by dealing out child abuse so he can get to know them over a period of time.

God is everywhere at once, but he doesn't control everythign at once. in fact, God doesn't do any physical action in the world today, only spiritual.
evils like child abuse are caused by the decision of humans to sin, hence all evil is caused by humans hoosing evil ove God, a choice God gave humans.
God's spirit (the Holy Spirit) works in peoples hearts and lives to help tghem to do good things. God only helps people, but does not cause things to happen or interfere with things physically. he used to, but thanks to Jesus dying there is no need anymore.
ps. is anyone going to soul survivor next year?

I'm terribly sorry and mean no offence whatsover but, I find this sort of argument to be sompletely nonsensical.
You're trying to tell me that after building the heavens and the earth and all that business and being a hands-on God for millions of years (I hate to believe Scientists but the dinosaurs are quite compelling evidence), he has decided to relax a bit, put his feet up and watch everything go wrong over the last 2000 years to teach us a lesson! Wow! A Prankster God. I should have guessed.
I stand corrected and thoroughly admonished!!!!
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

From experience, you can do whatever you like, but at the same time have Jesus rammed down your throat constantly. To a non-believer, yes they are dull, and the only fun to be gained is by watching christians listening to music they can't stand, purely because the band have seen the light.

And today another Catholic priest was sent down for 5 years at the Old Bailey for sexually abusing little boys. The church leaders first received complaints about him 21 years ago and did precisely nothing. Thus allowing the guy to carry on doing just what he wanted to do.
Yes, god may be love, but big chunks of his church are pretty damn sick.

"So, God is everything and everywhere, except bad things like child abuse. Mmm."
if god is everything and everywhere, then he _is_ also child abuse.
have you ever heard the Monty Python song taking the mickey out of 'all things bright and beautiful'? something like: 'all things foul and cancerous, all pox both great and small, all things rude and dangerous, the lord god made them all'. If you accept that god is in charge, either he's no god at all, or else you get the bad with the good. the christian problem is reconciling a perfectly moral creator with a callous creation. square peg, round hole.

Orangefish - I really want to go next year, but I don't think I'm going to be back from Africa in time
oh well - maybe 2004, just to make it a round three years since the last time I went.
(oh, and I *like* the bands)

Dull, dull, what is dull apart from a poor dismissive attempt to undermine something that they don't understand, yet!, God knows they are out there and he's going to meet them <alesomeday, just pray for critics sake that its not after they have shuffled off this mortal coil

Oh no! Am I going to hell for saying that his festivals are dull?
Abject nonsense. I am going to sin, sin and sin some more during my lifetime and if there is a God which to my knowledge there isn't I will suggest he forgives me.
