Today i plucked up the courage to check my bank balance. Hate doing it as every time i do it seems to be half what it was the time before.
However, ...wait for it... my balance appears to be £1,800 more than it was. Could this be the back dated housing benefit from last year?! Once i wiped the grin off my face, i started to worry in case it is a mistake. I should go and get a statement but walking to the branch is a bit beyond me today. Perhaps i will get conformation in the post on Monday. It would certainly tie in with the recent mail (ie my file is not at the bottom of a pile)
Bought some chocolate cookies to celebrate - they will have a hard time getting them back off me !!

I know! I smiled all the way round the shop - staff must have thought i was tripping because they are so use to seeing me look miserable or about to pass out in the queue. (i get anxious and go dizzy and sweat if i have to queue for long)
Maybe i will even start gettting paid some incapacity benefit too - maybe i shouldn't get over excited about that! Current standards that will be another 2 months.

Tell me about it... I can't stand going to shop (especially on my own)... it's like I'm on trial or something... everyone stares at you and deliberately makes you feel uncomfortable...
Is that how you feel about shopping etc??...
Yeah... I wouldn't put your hopes up on the incapacity benefits... they're like a fart in a trance in all places where they deal with money...

If I were you Mort I would enjoy the day. Sure don't spend more than you can afford to pay back if it has been a mistake, but have some fun with it
The Yoda's mum got a wrong rebate and had to pay back £2500 earlier this year, and we've just had a rebate back which has just gone into the Frank extra added bits fund (which now sits at a very respectable £1000)

Hi Sir Mort. I hope you're enjoying that money you've waited so long for. I'd be tempted to put some in a savings account incase "they" have made an error. That way you benefit from their mistake
