Vicki Virago - Proud Mother

I can't go into details because it's confidential, but I need some help.

I'm trying to trace some companies that appear to no longer be active, but I might well be wrong. So far I have come to dead ends and wonder if any of my friends are able to offer any help or assistance.

The companies names are:

Houlders Bros Limited
Bibby's Line Ltd
Reardon Smith Ltd

What I need to know are:

1. Are they still active companies?
2. If not, when did they get wound up/go bust/cease to trade.
3. Are they active under another name?

I know this is a big ask, and there are surely more to come in the not too distant future.

Anyone able to help?

VV

companies house does give some info for free, some details better than others:
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/de043dc215792c4078f0e63c4c15a5a2/wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo

Houlders Bros Limited
- nearest match - Houlder Brothers & Co. Limited - Dissolved 30/11/2005 - might be different company though.

Bibby's Line Ltd -
- no exact match but there is both a Bibby Line Limited and a Bibby Line Group Limited both listed as still trading.

Reardon Smith Ltd
Dissolved - 15/08/1995

it's easier if you have the company number to make sure though. i can get the numbers from the website if you don't have access so you can check if they are the same.

hi
-
you could try your local main library, they usually have the registers for companies, or can tell you how to locate a company that have gone, it could be under another name, either merger or just renamed,or even completely taken over smiley - peacedove jim

Hi, saw your request for information about companies. Don't know if it is any help but there was a company called Bibby's on our local estate a while ago. It is now known as ABN Feeds.

Sorry if this is wrong company, good luck! Chris

VV: the people that could help would be breaking the official secrets act if they did. I'd imagine you already knew about Companies House and have tried it.

I'd help but would rather keep my job.

Anyway, she could always use an unofficialy authorised unatributable off the recod source.

Roy,

The information was purely the names and possibly the names of any subsidiaries. All are available on the internet.

It was just a place to begin looking, as she couldn't find the companies in Companies House Registration. Probably because the original names have been obscured by time, or there old names were used because of it being a local company name.

Fair enough. I'm probably too used to being asked for info that I shouldn't give in exchange for a pint, or £100.00, or a gramme...

I tend to see the devious when I see a question like this.smiley - sorry

Not to worry, darling.. smiley - hug

Having worked with the Inland Revenue via an Accountant, I have been privy to information that might not necessarily otherwise be available.
