...it's the little things that make life worthwhile.
Things like spending all day planning the speech you're going to make tomorrow when you hand in your resignation.

No, I had to make it more original, three people have already used that this week.

Oh, I'm seriously considering applying for another job as well.. After having been doing the same job now for almost two and a half years and still being on a first-day rookie's salary, I'm starting to get a bit p*ssed off about my situation here. Anyone that starts here at the Help centre today will have exactly the same salary as me and it's a bit disheartening to say the least. Especially since a guy that's been off 'sick' about 8 of the past 10 months both got a statutory pay raise AND an extra raise this past year...

Is a bit crap being on the same money as new people. That's why the bosses don't like us telling each other what we get paid.
I found out once that a woman I worked with had been given a pay rise and was getting slightly more than me. I went to personel and complained that I'd been there longer, was better, had less sick days, spent less tiem chatting on the phone etc, and if they thought that was all I was worth they could poke their job, and not only did I get a pay rise, but a 'sort-of' promotion. Nothing really new to do, but I got a new job title which meant I got a job at a company that had previously ignored me.
Go and make a stink!

I tried that once, Mina, and my boss just went 'oh well, if you want to leave that's your decision'. Mind you, after I left, the whole department went to pot, ha ha ha!

Mina, the fact that I haven't recieved a single pay rise since I started at the Help Centre is a clear indication that I'm making the exact same amount of money as any rookie just starting out.
And they aren't really very secretive about the fact that all regular employees, as opposed to the Contractors, gets an annual pay rise of about 3-5%, which may not be much, but it's still something. It covers the tax increases, anyways... I'm now making less than I did this time last year.
According to the job description for a job I'm considering applying for, my salary could be up to 8 grand more per annum, which is a lot of money...

Oi! Mina! Shut it!
Actually, we were in the process of being taken over by another company and my boss came in from them, so that probably had something to do with it. However, people would come on the phone and ask for me personally, so there!
Incidentally, you going to this mad fetish thing in London this weekend? One of my radio friends is going, and he says he'll bring me back a present too!

I was planning to go, but I seem to have a small wee boy that I need to look after this weekend. I swapped weekends to do something else, and was hoping my mum would have him for the afternoon, but she appears to have gone to Spain. So I'll be asking for presents too!
I am going to Erotica instead, next month. Which is bigger, and much more fun! And happens to be around payday.

"Go and make a stink!"
Well, we were very close to staging a dirty protest at one point...
So anyway. In I marched, bold as brass, clutching my resignation letter. Found a team leader. "I've come to hand in my notice."
"Oh," she says. "Right. Is this your last day then?"
Hmmmmmm. "Er, I suppose so."
I expect that because so many people have left in the past few weeks, they've stopped putting up even a token resistance. Still, never mind. I'm free! Until Monday, anyway.

I've got another job. A nice, simple, straightforward office job. None of this ing around talking to people who are too stupid to be able to top up a mobile phone unaided.
