Kudos to Santragenius V (U62867) for finding the first bug in the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Hitchhiker's Adventure Game (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game.shtml).

"If you were to register with h2g2, your games would be saved in your personal folder, and we could list them here".

Well, not unless you've said RESTORE first.

That's right folks, I forgot to create the personal folder at SAVE time. What an idiot.

Doubly so, in fact, because Jim spotted it during testing, but it went away smiley - sadface

Bugs never, ever, "just go away", and I should know that by now.

Fix coming soon ...

smiley - laughWell - I think I'd be more happy with the feat if I had been looking for a bug...

smiley - musicalnoteSometimes you're the windshield
Some times you're the bug...smiley - musicalnote

Anyway, the workaround works fine smiley - ok

Which saved game would you like to restore?

Decent name for a backup & stupid

While the name was accepted as:

-Decent name for a backup & stupid < signs

and older names:

-morning
-nothingHOG

(without the hyphens)

Hi Dot -

Sorry for the delay in replying - I'm on vacation at the moment, and only popping online occasionally.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - I can confirm that it is a bug, it is reproducible, and that (thankfully) there's also a workaround.

The good news is that all your files are safe, it's just that the Flash client isn't displaying their names. So, if you can remember the names, you can RESTORE them with no problem - even the ones with silly names.

If you can't remember the names, and you're *really* desperate, then there's still a way you can get them, but it's probably easier to wait until Shim & I have released a fix (this bug requires work on both our parts).

Hope that helps!

Hi Dot -

There's an updated version of the game running on the BBC site - hopefully you should now see all your saved games listed!

Cheers,

Sean.
