Yikes not working?

Post 1

Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

Hi.

I just tried unsuccessfully to Yikes a post.

Possibly I *shouldn't* have Yikesed it - it was my own post and it was just in the wrong Thread. (stuff happens). But then again it could have said 'The Gurus are Dingoes Kidneys and their address is....'.

A temporary glitch?

Incientally...if it *were* a serious No-No and a not-working Yikes...I couldn't easily gind a way to tell you. This could leave you open to risk.

You need to write to the moderators Ed

as far as I am aware the yikes should be working, but do remember the mods are voluntary posts. You may not get an answer immediately.

Yes, thanks. Sorted.

No - I don't expect an answer immediately. But it was a Yikes that didn't disappear and this could have been a technical issue. I also got caught in a loop where it kept asking me to input again. No prob this time - but could have been serious for someone else.

As a piece of Constructive Feedback, though - it's absolutely not clear who to contact about what...nor how to contact them. I've always had this problem. To know, you have to...know. It may be clear to the volunteers - but has it been User Tested? I'll happily smiley - erm volunteer.

Carry on the sterling work. smiley - smiley

That's a very good point, and the answer is - we know, and we're working on it.

I sometimes feel we are trying to build a sandcastle, using a teaspoon against the tide. But its going to be fine one day. smiley - cool

I am sure there were calls for that sort of help at one time, as in testing.

We do need constructive criticism though, it really helps. User feedback is always helpful. Thanks!

Well Usability and User Testing are well within my professional competence. I can suggest some dead easy, pragmatic, practical things.

I can't volunteer for much, but I can volunteer for this. Feel free to let The Community know...or who in particular should I speak to directly?

Mrs Zen

Hello both,

Lanza's alerted me about this. I'm not sure if testing is in my area or Tech's, but Milla is the volunteer with the most experience in that area. I'll make sure she's aware of this and talk to her, Brian and Pastey about where Testing sits..

At the moment we're bunging fixes straight in as we do them, (I say "we" I mean "Pastey"). There will be a Test server pretty soon, where all hell can be let loose in a safe environment.

Anyhoo - I'll let Milla know, because she'll be your gal when there's something solid to test.

B

Hi there!

I did see this thread, and boy am I glad there is usability expertise around smiley - smiley

Pastey has been managing testing so far, for all the bits and bobs, and I've not meddled in it. But I'm eager to contribute when the time is right

As I say...I can't volunteer much.

One hint I can give you:

>>Pastey has been managing testing so far

The Implementer Is Not The User. Important axiom. The testing has to be done by people who knows shit. Pastey knows his shit.

Happy to communicate some more. This stuff has been my job for mumblemumble years - although I more often get to apply it to big metal things than softyware things.

Oh..and there's no need for an 'Alert' as such. Plenty other stuff to do I'm sure.
