A serious query regarding moderators: 1. What are the qualifications required? 2. What experience do they require? 3. How are they trained? 4. Who sets and maintains their standards? 5. What is their workload? 6. Are they well paid? 7. Where are they recruited? Peta or Jim, or any moderator, serious answers please. Yours Biggles PS I also posted this on Points Askew, link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbpointsofview/F2107879?thread=744789&post=8138159&s_edit=yes#p8138159

Peta's probably best answering this one, I'm afraid. To ensure impartiality, we don't have any direct contact with the Moderators.

Hi
I've posted here to remind me to respond later - I've got to rush off now to do some interviews.
Sorry for the late reply - yes, was away on Thursday and Friday, which is why I didn't pick this up earlier. Back this afternoon.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F2137311?thread=774623 I have incorrectly started the above thread in "Games" while it should be in miscellaneous chat. I accept my public flogging with grace, but could you please share with me how to correct my error. Thank you.

Ooh, cheddar - is that like a cheese cracker?
A weak earl grey would be nice thanks
So, they still haven't let you have a key to the biccie cupboard?

Biggles, this isn't really the place to ask this question to be fair, as this is about general BBC policy, not h2g2, which is why I can't really answer on Peta's behalf in this instance. But Peta is subscribed to the conversation.
As I'm sure you can appreciate, Peta is extremely busy with the migration of the old messageboards over to the DNA platform, but she will reply when she can.

Hi
I've responded to your question on Points of View here:
F2107879?thread=744789&skip=20&show=20#p8502073
It's not really a h2g2 Hitchhiker's Guide feedback question, so POV seemed the most appropriate place to respond.
Oh and just so that you know, I'm a host not a moderator. The moderators read postings, they don't post to the boards themselves.
Key: Complain about this post

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
